Astoria, OR October 4 - 6

Oregon Sea Grant is looking forward to hosting this biennial opportunity to meet, greet, learn from, and network with our communication and extension leaders from throughout the Sea Grant family!

Our venue for the 2017 meeting is historic Astoria, OR. Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Portland, Astoria is a port city near the mouth of the Columbia River, where it meets the Pacific Ocean. Astoria was found in 1811, long before it was used as the backdrop for movies such as The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop. Astoria has the distinction of being the first permanent US settlement on the Pacific coast, and for having the first US post office west of the Rocky Mountains. During your visit, we hope you explore the local history; from the Lewis and Clark expedition, the Victorian and Queen Anne-style architecture, to Astoria's rich maritime history, and take some time to enjoy the sweeping views of the Columbia River, funky local art, numerous breweries, and eclectic locally-sourced cuisine.
