Before Making an Appointment:

to see if we are able to prepare your return.

WE WILL PREPARE ONE TAX RETURN PER APPOINTMENT.  Please inform us if there is a reason a taxpayer will not be present at the appointment.  If so, be prepared with proof you can represent the absent taxpayer and proof of their identity (their photo ID and a photo of them holding their photo ID).

PRIOR YEAR TAX RETURNS: If you need prior year tax returns prepared, you must make one appointment for each tax year, in order of oldest to current.  The oldest we prepare and file electronically is TY2022.  We can prepare TY2021, but it will have to be mailed in.  We do prior year returns in March.

BE PREPARED TO BE AT THE TAX-AIDE LOCATION FOR SEVERAL HOURS.    It is recommended that you have no other appointment that day that would require you to leave the site before closing.  You might not see  a  tax counselor exactly at your appointment time as the amount of time it takes to properly prepare a return is unpredictable. 

Choose an appointment date that occurs  after you will  likely have all of your documents.  For example, do not schedule an appointment for February if you have a brokerage/investment account.

IF YOU'RE UNABLE TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT, please call as soon as possible so that we might be able to help another taxpayer and reschedule you.

If you miss your appointment without calling us, you risk not being able to schedule another appointment.

The Appointment Experience

We prepare your tax return while you sit with us.  We do not require masks, but do feel free to wear one and do not be offended if your counselor chooses to wear a mask.  Please call to reschedule your appointment if you're not well.

Important: Well before your appointment, please put together your Packet of Documents and bring them with you to your appointment.  Please bring printed documents (if necessary, ask your brokerage to mail your tax docs to you and allow time to receive them).   We likely will not be able to work with documents viewed on your device.

On the day of your appointment, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out paperwork required by Tax-Aide and by the host site.

Be prepared to stay several hours.  The time it takes to prepare a return varies and it is not possible to know how long beforehand, which makes scheduling challenging.  Please do not schedule any other appointment that would require you to leave the site before it closes.  If you do have a time constraint, please let the intake counselor know.
