Fresh Produce

Buying and ordering

At present, you can only buy from us in the real world, at our market stalls or (by pre-arrangement) at the farm. However, you can place an order online for pick-up at the above locations.

Choose from our current products, then go to the Ordering form for further information. Orders need to be received at least a day or two before the pick-up date to leave us time to pick the vegetables.

How we sell and package our fresh produce

Virtually all of our fresh produce is sold by weight. We list prices per kg or per 100g, but you can buy or order as little as you want — for example, parsley costs €5.50 per 100g, but you are free to buy just 10g for 55c if that is all you want.

Selling by weight means that it takes a bit longer at the market stalls to weigh everything up, but many of our customers are very aware of and concerned about food waste, and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to buy no more than they need, even if that is only a few leaves to stick between two slices of bread for an impromptu sandwich. The only downward limit is the nature of the individual vegetables — you won't find many 10g potatoes ;-)

The majority of our market customers bring their own bags; for our own packaging, we use paper bags rather than plastic except for salad leaves. We are researching alternative sustainable means for packing and storing the leaves, with the aim that when our current stock of plastic bags runs out, we will not need to get any more.

Is all the produce grown on our farm?

Our ideal is to sell only what we grow, even where that means odd gaps in our offering when circumstances throw a spanner in the works — for example, we haven't yet had much success in growing carrots, we underestimated the demand for onions and sold out ridiculously soon, and our Brussels sprouts took a right old battering from storms.

However, on some occasions we supplement our own produce with extra seasonal vegetables bought in from organic farms and suppliers. We needed to do this quite a bit when we had just started up; now, we aim to limit ourselves to buying seasonal 'essentials' — e.g., Brussels sprouts, onions and carrots around Christmas. Where this is the case, we will note our product list with details of the supplier and provenance.

We do not sell produce that is not seasonally available in Ireland and except on very rare occasions will buy in only Irish-grown vegetables.
