Hi ๐
My name is Seulsam (she/her; how to pronounce my name), and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at York University.
Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Specialized Honours from Chung-Ang University, Seoul. I completed my M.A. in Sociology at York University, where I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree. My research interests focus on international migration, particularly on how gender and race intersect and shape why and how people move under global capitalism.
Outside of research, I enjoy watching films (especially East Asian and diasporic cinema, as well as late-night screenings), taking photos, and cooking Asian dishes and Italian pasta. I also spend time biking around Toronto's west side and have been a long-time K-pop fan with a somewhat ambivalent view of the industry.
