Social Ecology & Psychology Lab

At the Social Ecology and Psychology Lab at Hokkaido University, we investigate how the characteristics of the social environment shape human psychology and behavior. Taking a socio-ecological approach, we examine how people adapt to their social environments, with a particular focus on relational mobility: the degree to which people can form new relationships and replace existing ones. We use cross-cultural and cross-regional comparative studies, experiments, and other empirical methods to investigate these processes.
