RNIB Bookshare opens up the world of reading in education for learners with a print-disability, including those with dyslexia or who are blind or partially sighted.
Get in touch with VIS@Torfaen.gov.uk if you are from Gwent and are supported by SenCom Vision Impairment Service or call 01633 648888 and we will set up an account for you to access reading, text books and graphics on RNIB Bookshare.
Following the news that most learners are now studying from home thanks to the temporary closure of educational establishments, following the UK Government’s response to coronavirus (COVID-19).
We want to ensure all learners with a print disability are not disadvantaged by the closures and, through RNIB Bookshare, are able to use the latest accessible educational resources.
RNIB Bookshare provides textbooks and materials to support the UK Curriculum. Our range of accessible formats can be read electronically and adapted to suit the personal reading needs of learners. We have over half a million titles in our library. More are added all the time.
Through the SenCom VIS organisational account, we can give each learner who needs access their own member account. With a member account, they will be able to use RNIB Bookshare at home (either independently or supported by a parent), and access the resources they need in a format they can read.
We've also put together advice and top tips for accessible learning at home during the coronavirus restrictions.
Once you have your login details from SenCom VIS you can access RNIB Bookshare. If you need more support in accessing your account, you can contact the RNIB Bookshare team by email bookshare@rnib.org.uk or telephone 0300 303 8313.
You can stay up to date with the latest news and updates from RNIB by visiting the coronavirus news page on our website. If you need any other support, you can call our Helpline on 0303 123 9999 or email helpline@rnib.org.uk. We are here to help.
