Semantics:

data & models

The team Semantics: data, and models at Institut Jean Nicod, Département d'Etudes Cognitives, Ecole Normale Supérieure conducts in-depth empirical studies (often based on experimental research and corpus data) combined with formal methods.

We carry foundational research on plurals and mass nouns, modals, tense, and aspect, free choice items, prosody, polysemy, and generics. We work on French, Italian, Greek, Chinese, English. We actively collaborate with University of Chicago, Georgetown University, University of Birmingham, University of Turin, and IRIT Toulouse.

We also newly carry applied research on big data, in connection with Institut Carnot de la Cognition and the Ministère de l'Intérieur. Our partner on these two projects is IRIT (Toulouse). We are also constantly looking for interns. Please, see the project page.
