This time in the world has been scary and unsettling for children. It has been a time of constant change and overwhelming circumstances. Children have been lonely due to social isolation. There has also been an increase in children suffering from anxiety and depression.
Cassie’s Big Change How COVID-19 Changed The Way We Learn was written from the perspective of Cassie. Cassie was feeling lonely and sad because she was away from her classmates and cousins. She usually would see her classmates at school and her cousins on the weekend. Due to COVID-19, she had to make changes.
Cassie’s school year started out as normal until one day everything changed. All of a sudden, everyone was talking about something new called COVID-19 and Cassie had so many questions.
What is coronavirus? What is a vaccine? What will happen to my family?
By acknowledging the feelings many children may have in the midst of changes in the school due to COVID-19, this book promotes hope, courage, and support for Cassie and her classmates.
