Hello! My name is Selina Davila Olivera and I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Oregon. I currently work with Dr. Josh Roering in the Earth Surface Processes Lab.
I completed my Bachelors of Science in Earth Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I conducted undergraduate research for the UCSC Geomorphology group with Dr. Noah Finnegan and Dr. Alex Nereson, focusing of soil properties and the mechanisms for recurring Earthflow (slow-moving landslides) failure.
After graduating with my B.S., I decided to explore a career in California water. I worked as a Junior Research Specialist in Dr. Joshua Viers’ VICE lab and Josué Medellín-Azuara’s Water Systems Management lab at the University of California, Merced. I then started my role as Hydrologic Technician at the U.S. Geological Survey in the California Water Science Center. After a bit of a break from academia, I have returned to pursue my passion in Geomorphology and landslides.
