Photo Booth uses the front camera to display the subject in multiple tiles, each with a different effect, on the iPad screen. Effects include Kaleidoscope, Stretch, X-Ray, and more. The tile in the center of the screen displays Normal view.

For this month's interview post I sat down with Brad Meyer, a sound effects editor here at Boom Box Post. Brad spends a lot of his time designing exciting, signature sound effects for his shows, especially vehicle sound effects, using both custom recordings and sound library material. Brad sat down with me to talk about his process for creating the signature sound effects for a demonic race car that is possessed by monsters.

This vehicle acts like a normal car physically, so I needed all of the same sound components I would use the normal car, but with some scary monsters in it. I needed accelerations with monster growls and ruckles, revs with roars, pass-bys with roars and growls and an idle with a ruckle. I created all of the elements in advance to use throughout the episode and give them a common sound.

The source for the vehicle material was a 1975 Cobra. I took the plain rev from the Cobra, and sweetened using some zombie screeches, as well as large animal roars that I processed using the Waves Doubler. This doubling effect de-humanizes the sound a little, masking the animal source and darkening it. I also added in some custom goblin recordings we had made previously, to add some high end. I layered them together, lining up the peak of the rev with the attack of the growls. I generally tried to use a similar monster sound to whatever the car was doing. For example, a rev is similar to roar, an idle is similar to a ruckle. Using like elements helps tie them together.

This installment of the series has Bayonetta traveling the world in a globe-trotting adventure, which means the development team was tasked in accurately recreating the cityscapes and atmosphere of each country represented. Through this, I made it my personal goal to emulate the feel of these countries through the sound design as well.

We also made it so that when you climb high up in the stage, you can even hear the rumbling of the numerous air conditioning units lining the building tops. We designed the sound for this area while trying to keep many aspects just as they would be in normal in daily life, to give the impression of a city that has been left completely abandoned after an unexpected assault.

This location that we chose was perfect for our recording needs, as it allowed us to get sounds from different types of trains, like local, express, limited express and even freight trains. And with the right timing, we could get these sounds with very little background noise, helping us acquire a clean recording. After a little bit of sound editing, were able to realistically recreate the sounds for the battle scene on the train after it departs Shinagawa Station.

Naturally, it would be impossible to perfectly recreate an entire roof for the sake of sound recording, so I gave up on further modifications here. But I think I was able to get some great sounds thanks to my efforts in creating this makeshift roof.

There has been more and more implementation of this kind of Foley* sound recording here at PlatinumGames lately. So this was the perfect chance to give some of our newer team members some hands-on experience and introduce them to the world of physical sound creation.

*Foley is a method of creating sound effects for TV, games, movies and more in post-production. It usually involves the Foley artists manipulating real objects as they watch the on-screen visuals in order to create the sound.

This time we focused a lot of development into the environmental sound, and did our best to create different worlds and atmospheres that could be felt as realistically as possible, even without the presence of music.

The first one is that if people send me voice or video messages and are being played back via the speaker, it sounds only like its 50% of the volume of e.g. whatsapp. With the same settings for volumes mind you. So that is a bummer. Also not sure how to proceed here. It worked fine on my old s3 but here it seems to have issues. Do I make a ticket with fairphone? Do I contact the programmers of telegram? I really do love that app but this way its not usable to me.

The second thing is: when actually making a video message, I of course use the front (selfie) cam. But then the video being made looks like someone applied a fish eye objective. Thats the first time I see it whatsoever and nobody else has that problem. Again, whatsapp (video call) fine. Making normal picture with that cam fine. Just telegram seems to not give a **** when it comes to that particular camera.

Make your videos stand out with sound effects. The right sound effects can add creativity and entertainment to your content, increase audience engagement, and showcase your brand, making it distinguishable and memorable.

Keep students engaged with video lessons by inserting lively game or tech sounds when presenting new concepts. Or emphasize content: Add chirping birds and wolf howls to your zoology lesson, or rumbling thunder to a weather lesson.

Turn training videos and product demos into engrossing content with engaging sound effects. Add mouse clicks to emphasize steps or bullet points. Add cheering and clapping for new products or exciting company announcements.

Liven up your YouTube vlogs, podcasts, and social media posts using audio effects. Set a relaxing mood with nature sounds, add a drum roll before you reveal big news, or add some humor with censor beeps and record scratches.

A sound effect, or audio effect, is a sound that has been enhanced or created artificially for use in video, film, and other media. Download and insert sound effects to emphasize content, engage your viewers, help tell your story, and alert your audience to transitions or important points in your videos.

With ScreenPal, you can add and edit multiple audio tracks within the Video Editor, including music and sound effects. Simply open your video in the editor and click on the video timeline where you want to add a sound effect. Next, click Tools, select Sound, and then click Sound Effect.

I have a problem with a sound on videos which were made on frontal camera. I almost havent got sound on selfie camera videos, but when I record videos on Instagram, I have the simple, good sound. Help me,please! What's wrong? Maybe it is because of update?

It is unfortunate that we have those limitations but on the other hand this just means that there is still a gigantic ocean to discover! Since the world is becoming louder and louder, I can imagine loads of new, cool earphones like mini headphones that are more inside your ear than around it. In this case, the headphones will not be in the way when taking selfies

If you have ever tried to find a sound effect in someone else's system and struggled because they call things by different names or organise things differently. Tim Nielsen who is a supervising sound editor, sound designer and re-recording mixer at Skywalker Sound and for a while, he has been developing a universal Category / SubCategory list for organising sound effects. The aim was to make it freely available to anyone needing such a system. I will let Tim explain.... 2351a5e196
