During the pandemic, I realized the greater potential of paper, that it can be more than just a flat surface.Â
The form of a rose gradually came together when I layered cones of card stock at their peaks. These cream-colored roses build off of the flower-inspired vase, following a simple yet elegant design.
These are Kusudamas, Japanese geometric structures that follow the general form of a sphere. While each structure had a standard construction process, the different colors and sizes make each unique.
I sought to explore subtractive space within these objects through pattern and repetition.
