This project, despite it being on procreate, will follow the same methods used on the marker rendering sheets. We used the inking brush with the technical pen modifier to create thin and thick straight lines to fine line the original blue pencil sketched sheet.
Moving onto rendering, this also follows the same methods used in the marker rendering sheets done previously. The brush used here is a brush from an add on called "Sketch A Day II" which includes a variety of brushes that can be use just like the markers from real life onto a sheet of paper. The `Real Marker` brush was used here, which is very similar to the markers used in real life, but is implemented into procreate digitally. The opacity and size was modified in order to reach the most ideal state of the marker.
One of the many unique features this application has, is the ability to implement images as a part of a render. We do this by uploading the image and setting it to a layer, then masking the unwanted edges and distorting the shape to match the area it is covering. For me, i used wood renders for the handles of the first two kettles, which add more detail as well as more variety to the colour as well.
When rendering metallic textures, it can be quite difficult. So, instead we can use images instead. For the 3rd kettle (pink), i used a image of aluminum which gave the lower part of the kettle a more realistic metal texture, rather than doing it with marker.
By using an image online, i was able to make a pretty convincing glass texture. The hard part about this, is that since it is a transparent object, the outlines and colorings have to be considerate of its opacity. By adjusting them, i was able to create a glass texture that looks transparent.
Shadows were added with a different type of brush. By using the Soft dirty air brush, and using masks, i was able to blend the colors with the shadows applied to add more depth to the kettles. This process requires the shadows to be darker on the outside, and lighter (more blended) on the inside. There are also shadows added under the kettles, which again, is to add more depth.
The highlights were made with a soft clean air brush. By using this with a low size, it can create sharp lines that adds a curvature to the shapes. This goes well with the shadows as the shadows add depth and the highlights can be used to describe the shape overall. it also adds for a contrast, which adds more depth as well.
