This is į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐s̵̩̍ story just as much as it is hers.

A human and a Shadow.
Who was she in her past life? That is uncertain, but one day she died, and she woke up missing a lot of her memories.
She couldn't remember who or what she was before, but she was given strange new powers by the one who now resides in her body, and a new lease on life.

Despite being part shadow, she is still part human, so she can have the same ailments as them.
° She does not need to eat or drink nearly as much as a normal person and can still feel thirst and hunger
° Also does not need sleep to function but she still values at least 8 hours of sleep otherwise she's grumpy and irritable through the day ( į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ does not understand why)
° She has seemingly near infinite Stamina, but she can feel tired (it's a matter of mind)
° Pain is thoroughly nullified for her and she can't feel much of it, although getting hurt still... well… hurts, and if pushed to the brink, she can and will collapse
° Any injuries (cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc) can be healed at will almost instantaneously
° If she is injured enough to the point of death (again), she will retreat back into the shadows for an undisclosed amount of time until she heals
Can create and use shadows to aid in battle. Constructs and weapons such as a scythe, claws, and sharp tentacle-like appendages for offensive purposes.
The mask she has and wears at times, being made from shadows, has the ability to “possess” the wearer that isn't her (if she so chooses).
° The host will then gain powers of darkness which are amplified tenfold, depending on the physical and magical ability of the wearer. However, the host has very little control as į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ more or less takes over completely. Although with a strong enough mind power, they can push them out or stop them from taking over.
° One massive weakness in this form is that if a critical hit injures or even kills the host, they will get forced out of the host. It doesn't hurt them, but it definitely means certain death for the host.
į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ (and by extension, Kittea) also has a “special ability” which allows them to take souls of the deceased and reform them as shadows to serve them (that’s how she amassed her “army” of kitties and crows in which she can see and hear from).
° When resurrecting the dead, į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ more or less takes their souls and forms a new body for them using the shadows. That way, they can see and hear through them (and also why she only seems to have black cats, the shadows really only have one look, and that's black)
° She can control them completely, but she chooses not to as her goal isn't to conquer but to give them another chance at life, freely
W̸̡̊ḥ̶̉a̷̺͆t̵̞̊ ̷̥̌ȧ̷̠ ̷̯͊w̷͔̍a̴̧̛s̸̰̈́t̴͎̂ë̵̘ ̴̹͗o̷̜͛f̵̅ͅ ̸̞̀m̶̨͐y̷͔̌ ̵͓̾ã̸̯b̵̲́i̸̗̔ĺ̷͈i̶̩̇t̴̯͑ị̵̌e̵̙̎s̸̹̎
° Once resurrected, their newly created Shadow Envoy has similar powers and abilities as they do, just really really minimal.

● They can teleport using shadows but only to her location and where she calls them to (or sends them). So they all just tend to wander
● They can fight using shadow constructs
They can change their size and shape (shapeshifting) and can transform into a Human form (although this is only for higher skill/level envoys)
● As long as Kittea is active (and “alive²”), they will never die, no matter how much damage they receive (although they can get tired)
● Her envoys have some sort of mental link to Kittea, as they can almost “hear” or at least sense each other's thoughts and feelings (allowing for them to “speak” to each other, even with a language barrier)
● Kittea can hear everything they hear and see everything they see (so privacy isn't really a thing). But, to use that ability, Kittea must mentally “link up” to the Envoy she wishes to see from. It requires some concentration to do so, so ability is not active 24/7 (she does sometimes dream of what they're seeing, though. It appears in her dreams, very hazy)
° Using the shadows, she can move between spaces and gaps, as long as it's not completely air tight and sealed (she can slip through the cracks of doors)
° Harnessing the darkness, she can use it to teleport, as long as she has been to the location personally at least once and knows where she's going. Also as long as both areas have dark spots or shadowy areas.
If the space is completely lit up with no shadows or dark spots, she can't access it. She can still get in by other means though (example, above)
The form she usually takes is that of when she was alive, it is genuinely what she looked like, but she can also change her appearance at will using her shadows (likes to change her appearance often as she always wanted to when she was alive but it was too inconvenient, also she couldn't commit or decide on a look, but now she can do it as much as she wants… Although sooner or later, she could forget what she looked like).
She has a space in the shadows where she calls “home.” When not staying out in the world of light, she resides inside the darkness. It's also where she goes when critically injured to heal.
° To those who aren't born from shadows, it all just looks like nothing but a pitch black room. You can't even see your own hand in front of your face.
° To Kittea though, it's entirely furnished to her liking
° The room changes layout and orientation a lot
° You can and will get lost if you don't have Kittea to guide you (if you somehow manage to enter that place)
In dire situations or particularly hard battles, į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ will show į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐s̵̩̍ “true” form, a creature from pure darkness with its abilities and powers enhanced greatly.
The only thing enough to weaken it is intensely concentrated light.
° The more darkness present at the location, the stronger it gets
° In this form, Kittea more or less takes a back seat while į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ takes over
In complete darkness, with a wave of her hand, į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ can create a dark mass that opens, inside lay hundreds, even thousands of eyes. Once they lay eyes on their target, a mouth full of sharp teeth opens up and multiple arms of shadows reach out to grab and constrict their prey. Once trapped, they will pull their target into the void of teeth, where it will eventually close in on them, leaving them to never be seen again.
Depending on the amount of and space of darkness, the void can basically consume everything that's in said “dark space.”
*This move is mainly used for bigger objects, į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ would not waste it on one person.
*Move can really only be used in a place with complete darkness, for example, outer space (under no circumstances should you allow į̶̖͗̽t̷̙̒̐ to reach space*)

A world ravaged by inhuman creatures, where Humans were hunted to near extinction and Monsters reigned supreme.
A battle for dominance in the shadows left one critically injured, and without a weaker (preferably Human) host around to latch onto, it had no hopes of ever regaining its lost power and authority.
All was not lost, however, as it sensed a strong blast of power coming from… somewhere. With its waning strength it travelled towards the source and found a space where a void lay. It recognised this from the abilities of the other monsters, but they hadn't ever been this powerful.
The fabric of space was torn apart by something, but it couldn't dwell too much on it, time was running out, and if there wasn't anyone suitable here for it to use, then it'll just have to try elsewhere.
This was it, its last remaining shot at salvation as it threw itself into the otherworldly fissure.
Everything going dark.

The stars dotted the sky and the clouds framed the moon as the midnight streets were quiet, without a single peep.
The shadows along the walls shifted along with the moon's light as it moved along the walls.
It was weak, having just escaped with barely an inch of its life, but it made it. A world of which it hadn't seen since before the Human civilizations fell.
It was almost an exact image of the past, which was fortunate as it would likely mean it had many hosts to choose from, but it couldn't be picky, not while it was still barely clinging on to what little it had.
That was when it sensed it, the Outskirts, just beyond the tall walls of the City. It felt a strong surge of desperation, helplessness, then acceptance, before it faded away.
Following the trail, it led to a small forest, secluded and silent. In the middle, a man, finishing up with a deed, dusted off his hands, and grabbed the shovel that was tossed aside. Full of rust and the smell of copper.
It was ready to strike, to take him as its host, however, it hesitated. The aura coming from the man was one of danger... It could even call it “InHuman.”
Not that it hadn't faced Humans in a similar vein before, but in its weakened state, it couldn't risk failing to assimilate and get itself into deeper trouble.
Time was running out and it was faced with a dilemma: take him and risk failing, or do nothing and perish.
… There was another.
Very very faintly, just beneath the dirt mound, not even 5 inches beneath the surface. Weak and barely clinging on.
Perfect.
It wasted no time, diving towards the shallow grave, it would form their bond, right then and there.
The process was slow and felt like it dragged on for hours, if it was at full strength it would've completed it within a minute. But it would be done.
A twitch of a finger and a jerk of an arm, the dirt above was shifted as it broke through. Broken nails clawed at the dirt as it dragged the limp body of its host out from the Earth.
With a sharp gasp of breath, the body of its host began working again as it seeped into every fibre of their being, assimilating with them and completing the metamorphosis.
A being of part Human and shadow.
Footsteps echoed through the cloudy night as heeled boots met Stone pavement. [̶̯̈́R̶̨͂̏E̶̩̲̅͠Ḍ̶̥̋Ã̴̻C̶̻̝͝T̵͕̽̐E̵͚̓D̸̳͌]̷͔̌̕ walked along the quiet, night time streets as she left behind the hustle and bustle of the busy city.
Public transport had stopped coming and going, as it was well into the night, but [̶̯̈́R̶̨͂̏E̶̩̲̅͠Ḍ̶̥̋Ã̴̻C̶̻̝͝T̵͕̽̐E̵͚̓D̸̳͌]̷͔̌̕ didn't mind, she enjoyed the night and the peace that came with it.
She felt a wave of relief and excitement wash over as the silence allowed her to think and fully realise how she was feeling.
She was relieved that exams were over and there were no more project deadlines. She was excited because it was a brand new chapter in her life, newly Graduated and with a degree, she could focus on finally doing those personal projects she had been wanting to do…
A chill breeze rustled the leaves of the trees as it blew through. She pulled her arms closer to herself, both for comfort and for warmth…
*Thwack*
…Anxious, she felt anxious. She finished her schooling, yes, and she was free to do whatever she wanted, but of course it was never going to be that easy.
*Thunk*
She'd have to find a job, apply to them, get (hopefully) not rejected, and if all went well, she'd stay at that job for the rest of her life until retirement… But what if it was a job she didn't like??
*Crack*
What if she wasn't good at it?? What if she just couldn't find one at all???
*Thunk*
Taking a few deep breaths, she settled her mind and her building anxiety as she reasoned with herself to calm down.
Footsteps ceased as she stopped in her tracks, hoping to calm and put her now restless mind at ease.
*Crack*
She jumped, snapping out of her spiralling anxiety, and barely managing to keep a startled shriek from escaping her.
A shiver went down her spine and goosebumps formed as slowly, her head turned towards the direction of the sound.
The clouds barely managed to part, allowing the moon's rays to illuminate the clearing between the trees. Thick bushes lined the hidden path, and in the middle, was a figure.
Hunched over something, their arm raised, hand grasped tightly around a silver object, and paused mid-strike.
̶̯̈́R̶̨͂̏E̶̩̲̅͠Ḍ̶̥̋Ã̴̻C̶̻̝͝T̵͕̽̐E̵͚̓D̸̳͌]̷͔̌̕’s eyes widened as the object glinted in their hands… It was a cleaver. Brown and rusted in some spots, and covered in some sort of… liquid which now dripped down their arm.
Now realising they had been spotted, their head turned to face her.
[̶̯̈́R̶̨͂̏E̶̩̲̅͠Ḍ̶̥̋Ã̴̻C̶̻̝͝T̵͕̽̐E̵͚̓D̸̳͌]̷͔̌̕ froze, her anxiety shot up, wanting to flee yet her feet remained cemented to the ground. Maybe if she stayed still they wouldn't know she was there..??
Slowly, the figure rose from their position and began walking towards her. The light of the moon's rays just barely illuminated them entirely.
It was then that it fully sunk in what she was seeing.
They were covered, head to toe in blood, they were wearing a mask… and they were approaching, with cleaver in hand.
[̶̯̈́R̶̨͂̏E̶̩̲̅͠Ḍ̶̥̋Ã̴̻C̶̻̝͝T̵͕̽̐E̵͚̓D̸̳͌]̷͔̌̕ didn't wait to see what they were going to do as she took off as fast as she could. Finally snapping out of her shock.
Her lungs burned as she cursed under her breath, if only she hadn't stayed out so late with her classmates celebrating their recent graduation..!
… But what if they were just hacking up some roadkill and disposing of it? Or maybe they just wanted to chop up some stuff for dinner? (Out in the middle of a wooded area? Yeah right..). What if they were just some totally normal, innocent person and you look like a weirdo for running away from them when they weren't doing anything wrong??
She ran as far as she could before she felt like she was going to pass out. Ducking behind a tree, she leaned against it and steadied herself with her hands on her knees.
Panting heavily, she felt her heart hammering loudly in her chest as she worked on calming herself down.
Man, she was out of shape…
Thinking back to what she saw, her thoughts began to race as she wondered what she should do next. Should she call the police?? Just go home and forget about it?? If she does tell anyone about it would they believe her?? Or would they think she's being stupid and worried over nothing?? She'd feel really embarrassed if this was all just a misunderstanding and what she encountered wasn't anything bad at all.
“Just do it, if it's just a misunderstanding, you can apologize for it after..” She thought to herself.
Sighing after catching her breath, she dug into her pocket and pulled out her phone.
So focused on her device she did not see the hand reaching out for her from the dark. She barely had time to look up.
The dull clatter of a phone hitting the dirt ground and a sharp slash disturbed the peace of night as the area was splattered with red.
