Welcome

Formed in 2011, the SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty from Europe's leading business schools, including London Business School, HEC Paris, Bocconi University, Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College London, and ETH Zurich to help advance the research frontier and stimulate the academic labour market. To this end, it supports an annual faculty workshop and a Doctoral Consortium. For these events, it brings together faculty from a broad range of European institutions, including those mentioned above, as well as from, for example, Catolica Lisbon, EPFL, Frankfurt School of Management and Finance, IE Business School, KU Leuven, SKEMA,Technical University of Munich, University of Bath, and many others.

The SEI Doctoral Consortium 2019 provides doctoral students at European Universities with a unique opportunity to present their dissertation-stage research to, and receive developmental feedback from, leading strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship scholars, including the editors of many of the top journals in the field. Ample opportunities for informal mentoring and networking will be provided outside the formal student presentations, including coffee breaks, lunches and dinners.

This website is dedicated to providing all essential information for the 2019 SEI Doctoral Consortium. This year the Doctoral Consortium is hosted by the Department of Management, Strategy & Innovation (MSI) at the KU Leuven. The two-day Consortium will start on Friday, September 20th, and will finish on Saturday afternoon, September 21st 2019. The venue of the conference is the campus of the Faculty of Economics & Business, in Leuven, Belgium.

The SEI Doctoral Consortium 2019 is grateful for financial support by the KU Leuven.

Important information about the submissions:

Nominations should be made by the faculty rather than the student. Since the Consortium is designed to help students develop their research, we prefer nominees whose research is beyond the thesis proposal stage. All nominees will be evaluated by a selection committee. Priority will be given to students who have not presented at a previous SEI Consortium. The lead advisor to the selected students are strongly encouraged to attend.

To nominate a student, please provide a letter of support, which includes:

  • Student name
  • The stage he/she has reached in the doctoral program
  • An indication whether a nominated student has presented previously at the SEI Consortium
  • An indication whether the lead supervisor will commit to participate in the event

With your letter of support, please add:

  • An up-to-date CV of the PhD student
  • The student's extended abstract (max. 2000 words)

The SEI Consortium is open for nominations of doctoral students registered in European Universities regardless of their nationality.

The submission process is closed. This year's program is available here.
