Seek ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Seek — Know what you see mobile application ("App").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use Seek.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Seek requires access to your device's camera so that you can capture images of objects for identification.
When you capture an image for object recognition:
The image is sent from your device to our backend server.
Our backend processes the image to identify the object.
The image may be sent to OpenAI through the OpenAI API to provide AI-powered object recognition and related information.
Images are used to provide the requested recognition functionality.
Seek does not access your camera continuously when you are not using the camera feature.
Seek generates and uses a device identifier to associate app data with your device without requiring you to create an account or provide an email address.
The device identifier may be used to:
Identify your installation.
Associate saved application data with your device.
Support app functionality.
Help maintain your app data.
If you choose to use Google Drive functionality within Seek, the App may access information and files necessary to store or restore your Seek app data in your Google Drive account.
Google Drive access is only used when you choose to connect or use the Google Drive feature.
Seek does not use Google Drive access to access unrelated files for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Your use of Google Drive is also subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
Seek uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.
AdMob and its associated technologies may collect or use certain device and advertising information, such as advertising identifiers, device information, and information about interactions with advertisements, depending on your device settings, region, and applicable consent requirements.
Advertising information may be used to provide, measure, and improve advertisements.
Seek does not require you to create a user account or provide information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the core object-recognition functionality.
We use information collected through Seek to:
Identify objects from images you submit.
Provide AI-powered object recognition.
Store and restore your app data when you use Google Drive.
Maintain and operate the App.
Associate app data with your device.
Display advertisements.
Improve reliability, security, and functionality.
Respond to support or privacy requests.
Comply with applicable legal requirements.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or transfer information with service providers that help us operate Seek.
Images submitted for object recognition may be transmitted to OpenAI through the OpenAI API for processing and generation of the requested recognition results.
OpenAI's API data-use practices apply to this processing. OpenAI states that data submitted to its API is not used to train its models by default unless the customer explicitly opts in.

We use Google AdMob to provide advertisements.
Google and its advertising partners may process information according to their applicable privacy policies and advertising settings.
If you choose to use Google Drive, your data may be transferred to and stored through Google's services according to Google's applicable privacy policies.
Information submitted to Seek may be processed through our backend infrastructure and hosting providers as necessary to operate the App and provide its features.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the relevant functionality, maintain the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Images submitted for object recognition are processed for the purpose of providing the requested recognition service. Where images or related information are stored by our systems, we may retain them for the period necessary to provide the applicable functionality.
Data stored through Google Drive remains subject to your Google Drive account and Google's applicable policies.
Seek does not require an account.
You may delete locally stored Seek data by using the applicable deletion or reset functionality provided within the App or by uninstalling the App where applicable.
If you have data stored on our servers and want to request its deletion, you may contact us using the contact information below.
When a valid deletion request is received, we will take reasonable steps to delete applicable data, subject to information that we are legally required or permitted to retain.
If you use Google Drive to store Seek data, you may also need to remove that data from your Google Drive account.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Seek.
Data transmitted between the App and our backend should be protected using secure encrypted connections such as HTTPS/TLS.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Seek is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable laws.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us inappropriately, please contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.
Seek uses third-party services to provide certain functionality, including:
OpenAI API — AI-powered image/object recognition.
Google AdMob — advertising.
Google Drive / Google services — optional data backup or storage.
