WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Studies show when parents are involved in their children’s education, their students are more likely to succeed. You are very important to the education program at Sedgwick Elementary and there are many ways you can volunteer.

Sedgwick Elementary PTO is very active and supports the school all year long by purchasing curriculum and supplies for teachers and staff, funding the AR program, and putting on several family events (just to name a few). We meet the second Tuesday of the month in the evening. Even if you cannot attend the PTO meetings you can still volunteer for various activities throughout the year!

You can sign up for one of the following events by sending an e-mail to sedgwickelementarypto@gmail.com.

Sedgwick Elementary PTO activities: Below are some of the events we have had in the past. However, the final 2018-2019 events have not yet been finalized.

  • Book Fair: The Scholastic book fair is run by PTO. We use the proceeds to purchase items for teachers and staff members. Volunteer Opportunities – set up the book fair, work the book fair, tear down the book fair.
  • Teacher Appreciation: PTO organizes meals during the month of May. Grade levels are assigned a week to provide meals, snacks and treats throughout the assigned week. Volunteer Opportunities – organize grade level snack week, provide needed food items, set up and clean up the workroom.
  • Teacher Meals during conferences: During conferences, PTO provides a meal on the late night. Volunteer Opportunities – provide needed items, help serve staff members, set up and clean up.
  • Daddy Daughter Dance: One of our largest events, a special time for girls to spend an evening with their Daddy or other father figure. The event begins with pictures and a meal and is followed by dancing. Volunteer Opportunities – decorate for the event, help gather donations, cook the meal, serve food, DJ the music, clean up.
  • Goodies with Grandparents: Grandparents are able to come to the school during an afternoon and enjoy refreshments with their grandchild(ren). Following treats, they are able to visit the bookfair. Volunteer Opportunities – set up, pass out refreshments, oversee the book fair, help to ensure the lines are flowing correctly, work the bookfair, clean up.
  • Mother Daughter Event: Last year the PTO hosted the first ever Mother Daughter paint event. Volunteer Opportunities – set up, clean up, assist with the flow of the project
  • Mother Son Event: An event where mothers and sons can come together for pizza, dessert and games. Volunteer Opportunities – set up, serve food, clean up.
  • Muffins with Mom: We serve muffins and juice/milk to students and their moms. Volunteer Opportunities – set up, clean up.
  • Donuts with Dad: We serve donuts and juice/milk to students and their dads. Volunteer Opportunities – set up, clean up.

We are always open for suggestions and ideas. Please feel free to join us for a meeting, or help out by volunteering or suppling needed items. Find our page on Facebook: Sedgwick Elementary PTO.
