- Background & Real-Time Location Data: We collect precise location coordinates (latitude and longitude) of student devices. This is necessary to allow parents and school administrators to track school transport and monitor student safety in real-time even when the app is closed or not in use.
- Profile Information: We store student names, registration IDs, parent contact numbers, and school organization details.
- Notification Tokens: We collect and store Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device registration tokens to send instant SOS sirens and security alerts to parents and administrators.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
- To enable live tracking of students and school buses on parent and administrator dashboards.
- To transmit emergency SOS alerts (loud siren and location coordinate map link) to registered parent and admin devices.
- To maintain log reports of student activities and attendance (via QR scans) for safety records.
3. Background Location Permission Declaration
Our app requires access to precise location data in the background (even when the app is closed or not in use) to ensure that parents receive constant, uninterrupted tracking updates of the student/vehicle journey. Background location access is strictly restricted to safety-related tracking during designated transit hours.
4. Data Security and Encryption
We implement robust security measures to protect your data:
- All network communications between the app and our servers are encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL/HTTPS) technology.
- API endpoints are protected using HMAC-SHA256 signature verification to prevent unauthorized tampering.
- We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third-party marketing networks or analytical companies.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain location and profile data for as long as your school or organization has an active registration with SecureTrack. If an organization account is closed, all associated student, parent, and admin records are permanently purged from our active databases.
