My name is Sebastian Martinez Lizana and I'm a Power Systems Engineer. I currently work as a Team Leader in Power Systems Engineering at Electric Power Group (EPG), based in Pasadena, CA. I lead engineering activities for the Synchrophasor-EMS (S-EMS) eGRID project. My work focuses on technical leadership, coordination across engineering and software teams, project execution, and collaboration with utility partners on advanced EMS applications.
I hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as well as B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Concepción, Chile. Prior to my current role, I accumulated experience across industry, academia, and consulting, including faculty appointments at several universities in Chile and engineering roles in research institutes, consulting firms, and independent practice.
My professional background centers on power system engineering applications for operations and control, with experience spanning synchrophasor-based applications, power system analysis, and transmission-level studies. This website serves as a space to share my professional background, selected projects, research publications, and ongoing work in power systems engineering.
