September 2019

Alex mackenzie

Grade 8 Boys Volleyball Team

Alex is a tremendously skilled athlete that leads by example. He is focused, determined and always wanting to improve his game. Alex is a team player who is willing to take on any position to ensure his team’s success and doesn’t care for the glory. Alex is humble and well liked by his teammates because he understands how to have fun while still remaining respectful. It’s been a pleasure to coach Alex and see him constantly work on reaching his goals; one of which is to get out of his comfort zone and to be more vocal. He takes his goals seriously and will without a doubt lead our team to much success this season.

He gives back to Seaquam Athletics by refereeing the grade 8 and jr boys volleyball games when his schedule allows. Congrats, Sebastien! You are very deserving of this recognition.

Lucas competes hard everyday at practice and has a great attitude on and off the field, he is very deserving of the success his team experienced this year.

December 2019

Andrei Verchez

Sr. Boys Basketball

Andrei has been a welcome addition to the Senior Boys basketball team. Playing senior as a grade 10 student has not slowed Andrei's ability to succeed on the court and allow him to earn a All Star in the Seaquam Seahawk Classic tournament. He is a sparkplug of energy for the team with his ability to come up with important baskets in big games. On the defensive end he does a great job constantly disrupting the other teams offence. Andrei has provided great guard depth for the Senior team and is a main reason they have been able to maintain a place in the top 10 provincial rankings.

amar thiara

Jr. Girls Basketball

Amar has had a great December of basketball for the Seaquam Junior Girls team. As the team has experienced great success breaking into the top 5 Provincial rankings Amar has been a major part of that success. The Junior Girls won the Big Ticket tournament and she was named MVP of the tournament. Amar leads well on the court by communicating with her teammates and giving great effort on the court. Amar is part of a group of players who spend extra time on the court before and after school practicing their game. They have been a big reason for the success that has followed them.

Randeep has had a great month of basketball in January . He has been the most improved player on the Gr. 9 boys basketball team and has increased his point production in games. In the last two regular season games, Randeep has led the team offensively in points, hitting big shots late in the fourth quarter. He has also been a strong defensive player. Randeep has also exemplified great character. He hasn’t missed a practice during his run of increased production and comes in everyday with the intention to get better. Congrats, Randeep!

She always comes to practice and games with a smile on her face and a great work ethic. Congratulations Anika!

February 2020

Sereena hothi

Senior Girls Basketball

Sereena leads by example and motivates her teammates with her strong work ethic. On top of her exceptional leadership qualities, Sereena's presence on the court lead to the team's overall success. Sereena averaged over 20 points a game and was one of our most tenacious defenders. Sereena was the backbone of the Senior Girls team and we reached the success we did because of her. She was able to do what needed to be done- guard the opposing team's best player, or drive to the basket when we needed a quick hoop. Next year Sereena joins the Langara Women's Varsity Basketball team. Sereena's leadership and overall ability will be thoroughly missed.

Shaunti gill

Jr. Girls Basketball

Shaunti was an incredible force averaging a double double all season. She helped lead her team to multiple tournament wins during the year and to help them maintain a Top 5 provincial ranking all season long. Her defensive presence, rebounding ability and unmatched work ethic was on full display down the stretch of the season, helping her team complete undefeated league play with a Delta Championship, 2nd place finishing at the South Frasers and going 2-2 at the provincial tournament. Down the stretch of the season, Shaunti had multiple 20+ rebounding games and came up with huge plays on the offensive end of the floor right when her team needed them. She has been an on court leader for her team all season and a voice in the locker room. Congratulations on a great season Shaunti and keep it up as you move on to Senior Girls Basketball!
