I am microbial ecologist specializing in plant-microbe interactions and soil biogeochemistry. My work uses stable isotope probing, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and soil chemistry to better understand how microbial physiology, traits, and community dynamics influence soil biogeochemical cycles.

My current research focuses on understanding how soil organic matter (SOM) fractions can be used as indicators of soil health, as well as carbon and nitrogen cycling within agricultural systems.
I am also examining the microbial mechanisms involved in soil priming and how they differ across particulate and mineral-associated organic matter fractions using transcriptomics, soil chemistry, and biogeochemical assays.
When I am not in the field or in the lab you can find me outside backpacking with my fiancée, hanging out with my dogs, or playing music!
