Spectroscopy of Quantum Materials and Devices
Welcome to Sudi Chen's group at the University of Florida. We investigate emergent phenomena in quantum materials, including unconventional superconductivity, topological phases, and novel light-matter interactions, at the frontier of physics and with implications for next-generation technologies.
Our research focuses on low-dimensional systems, in particular tunable two-dimensional (2D) materials and devices. To probe and engineer their properties, we both develop and apply cutting-edge techniques, including high-precision angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), waveguide-based terahertz and microwave spectroscopy, and nanofabrication methods tailored for 2D materials.

Aug 2026: Our collaborative work completed at UC Berkeley, "Contactless cavity sensing of superfluid stiffness in atomically thin 4Hb-TaS₂", is now published in Physical Review Letters and selected as an Editors' Suggestion. See also this Synopsis in Physics Magazine.
