Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a good week. This week was the 13th week of me being the SCUA Processing intern! This week was a shorter one. Tuesday was Veterans Day, so the library wasn’t open. This week is also the second to last week of me being the SCUA Processing intern, so I am trying to finish everything up! Also, the two collections I have finished, the Bicentennial Collection and International Student Association collection, have been fully published!
On Wednesday, I went in and started working on rehoming the printed presentations in the collection. They take up two boxes, so it was a pretty long process. I ended up finishing them on Thursday, since on Wednesday we had a little birthday celebration for another student worker/intern! We had chips and cupcakes in the break room, me and the other student workers/interns and three of the archivists. It was a lot of fun! After the birthday celebration, I kept working on rehoming the printed presentations and doing more background research into PennDesign, UCF Metro, and the other names and companies I found within the collection.
On Thursday, I finished rehoming the printed presentations, and rehomed the newspaper articles I cut out and the books that are in the collection, which are part of the subseries Publications. I also kept doing background research into some of the stuff and started working on the BioHistory worksheet, along with the Subject Headings worksheet and the Scope and Contents worksheet. It’s been a busy week!
I have finished rehoming the UCF Metro CDs and VHS tapes, the printed publications, newspapers, books, and the random VHS tapes found within the collection. Next week, to finish the collection, I have to finish rehoming the rest of the CD’s and the memorabilia found within the collection, finish all the worksheets, and start and finish the finding aid. I really hope I am able to finish everything in about 14 hours, as that is the time I have left in my internship. If I manage to finish everything, I would have finished three collections and two outreach projects during my time here! It’s a lot of stuff to get done in just 14 weeks, so I hope I did it all well.
Looking back at my time here, I have really liked being the SCUA Processing intern. Everyone is friendly, the work is really cool and I truly have learned a lot from being an intern. Anyways, I will talk about it more next week.
Thank you for reading my blog! I hope you have an amazing week, and see you next time!
