The community pool is a fund available to all community members that seek financial aid/pay/compensation to make meaningful contributions to Secret Network. The pool itself is funded by the community pool tax. The funds can be accessed by anyone through a governance proposal.
The community pool is a source of funding for initiatives on the network. The funds in the pool are available to all community members seeking financial aid/pay/compensation to make meaningful contributions to Secret Network. Initiatives one can think of are roles/positions in the network to ensure availability of dedicated human resources, the development of applications and tools, and marketing initiatives. The pool itself is funded by taxing the network inflation with the community pool tax.
In the Governance meeting on the 14th of July 2021, an initiative was started to define a Community Curated Bounty List or CCBL. This non-exhaustive list will serve as a helping guide for people to understand the broad range of initiatives the community pool can be used for. When the CCBL is finalized through governance this article will be updated.
To request funds from the community pool one has to make a spend proposal through governance. A guide on how to make a governance proposal can be found here [under construction, ask in Discord for now]. Although having a proposal approved is technically the only requirement to gain access to the community pool funds, it is recommended to take a couple of extra steps prior to submitting a proposal to the chain. These activities are not obligatory but are likely to increase the chances an on-chain proposal will be accepted.
1) Engage in conversations in the network. Talk about your ideas and the goals you are looking to achieve. Ask for feedback and adjust your plans if necessary.
2) Make a forum post on the Secret Network forums in which you detail your proposal. The forums are a great asynchronous medium to discuss ideas.
3) Connect with relevant committees in the network to see how they can support your plans. They may be able to point you to resources you can use, or help with some of the activities. Using the dedicated resources in the network may allow you to accelerate implementation, or integrate with existing tooling.
4) Participate in the weekly Governance meeting. Request your proposal to be scheduled on the agenda and use it to further refine your ideas and/or find support.
