ScrollMeter is a digital well-being app designed to help users understand their short-video usage habits across Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
ScrollMeter uses the Android Accessibility Service to detect short-video transitions and calculate usage statistics in supported apps.
This service:
Detects swipe and usage events only in supported apps such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Calculates swipe counts, usage duration, session count and longest-session information.
Does not collect messages, passwords, payment information, personal conversations, photos or videos.
Does not create screenshots, audio recordings or video recordings.
Does not remotely control the device or perform actions on behalf of the user.
Does not send or sell usage statistics to third parties.
ScrollMeter processes the following statistics locally on the device:
Instagram Reels swipe count and usage time
TikTok swipe count and usage time
YouTube Shorts swipe count and usage time
Session count and longest-session information
Daily and 7-day usage history
User-defined swipe and time limits
Notification preferences
Statistics generated by ScrollMeter are stored locally on the user's device. ScrollMeter does not upload this data to its own servers.
ScrollMeter does not share or sell usage data to advertisers, analytics providers or other third parties.
Users may export the last 7 days of statistics as a CSV file. The user controls where and with whom the exported file is shared.
ScrollMeter may show local notifications when user-defined swipe or time limits are reached. Notification permission can be disabled in the device settings.
Users can delete all locally stored ScrollMeter statistics through the “Delete all data” option in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its local app data.
ScrollMeter is not specifically designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
ScrollMeter follows a privacy-focused approach by keeping data on the device and avoiding unnecessary data collection. However, no electronic storage method is completely risk-free.
This privacy policy may be updated when app features or legal requirements change. The latest revision date is shown at the top of this page.
