In the Display resolution row, select the list and choose an option. It's usually best to stick with the one that's marked (Recommended). Monitors can support resolutions that are lower than their native resolutions, but text won't look as sharp and the display might be small, centered on the screen, edged with black, or stretched.

I am accessing them via an old laptop with 1024x1078 resolution. The result is such tiny icons/commands that it is difficult to try and change the screen resolution from 2 high-res displays to the single low res display.

The Set-DisplayResolution cmdlet changes the display resolution for Windows Server 2012/2016. Specify both the width and the height in pixels. Unless you use the -Force parameter, the cmdlet prompts you before it changes the settings. You can use the Get-DisplayResolution cmdlet to view the current resolution.

I've written a script that uses 'qres /l' to list available display modes, determines the highest res by multiplying the vertical and horizontal pixels and comparing, then 'qres /x:XXXX /y:YYYY' to set the resolution, and it appears to work very reliably on the few computers I've tested on, even without video drivers.

My only concern is that if QRes lists an invalid mode as available, is it possible that setting this mode to the laptop's display will possibly damage it? I don't know enough about how Windows handles output resolutions to know the answer. If you try and set a wonky resolution it will tell you it failed to set, but I'm concerned about a scenario in which the LCD is returning odd values as compatible.

Also here is the script for those curious. Assumes qres is in the Windows directory. The GTR/LSS lines are just there to prevent a resolution below 640x480 or above 2560x1600 being passed to qres. I call this into my startnet.cmd.

Poorguy, I tried your command. On one installation it works and on the other not.

But anyway, nowadays its not nessecary to create a xorg.conf.

So the best way is to follow anticapitalistas How To which certainly works.

Somewhwere you must have made a mistake.

Maybe you didnt save the screen_resolution in usr/local/bin but somewhere else, then the comands want match.

 Or something like that.

So my suggestion is, try it again, go step by step, carefully.

1. In the Control Panel (Press the Win+R keys to open Run, type Control, click/tap on OK) -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display -> Screen Resolution, here can adjust the resolution; then click Advanced settings to confirm screen frequency.

Howdy - I'm using RDM (Retina Display Manager), have since I got my first Retina system when they launched in 2011 or so. It works with the MacBook M1 Pro 16", the maximum resolution I get is 3456x2234. I don't expect it to continue to work after Intel processors are phased out, I hope that the author (on GitHub) updates it for M1. I'm also considering forking it and/or join the project as a contributor, because no, you aren't the only one who feels short-changed by the HiDPI resolutions. They are a waste of screen real estate. Cheers!

One more thing re: RDM -- the software figures out the available resolutions from the hardware configuration, screen dimensions, etc. I like 2560@1440 (same as my Thunderbolt display), but in the MacBook M1 Pro 16 it's not available. I use 2560@1600 as the closest resolution to what I'm used to. Cheers!

yea, this sucks. You used to be able to hold Option while clicking on scaled mode, and that used to give extra resolutions ... funny how you own the machine, but are not allowed to use native resolution of the screen

So, my actual computer has an odd resolution, so I need to use tier 2 screens because of the resolutions, but I want more colourscolors. I need to know how to change resolution in the autorun script. Any help is appreciated.

Yesterday I upgrade my version of android (5.0 to 6.0) and, when I reinstall the game, all the buttons and the clouds are bigger, they fill more screen and its no playable as always. Like if the game change the resolution or something, but its not posible to change in the option menu.

EA, all the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 just got to go to Android Marshmallow just a couple of days ago. It worked awesome with Lollipop. The Resolution went from like 1120x1024 down to like 640x480. Everything overlaps everything - yellow helmets, completed items, all sorts of stuff. I can make a screenshot if you want to see how bad it is.

I don't know what percentage of your users use Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but the those of us on this thread would prefer your do something about this versus having to use a third part screen resolution changer.

Vision Apps by default configures the display output to 1920x1080 resolutionand therefore all demos configure the display pipeline resolution to 1920x1080.This developer note explains how to change the display resolution and use it ina demo.

The display controller is initialized as part of the vision apps initializationwhich occurs when the Main R5F firmware is loaded and the appInit API iscalled. The appInit API is implemented in the file/vision_apps/apps/basic_demos/app_tirtos/common/app_init.c. This APIfixes the output resolution and the timing parameters for the output resolutionto 1080p as shown below. For new output resolution, frame size, timingparameters and pixel clock requires to be updated as per output resolutionrequirement. Once changed, the display controller framework will take care ofconfiguring it in the DSS.

The display pipeline gets configured in each vision apps demo. By default, alldemos use 1920x1080 as input resolution for the display pipeline. For newresolutions, the demo needs to be changed. Most demos utilize the displaymodule located at /vision_apps/modules/src/app_display_module.c.This module uses the DISPLAY_WIDTH and DISPLAY_HEIGHT macros found at/vision_apps/modules/include/app_display_module.h for setting thedisplay width and height. These macro values need to be updated as well asper the required display resolution.

Both commands:

-ViewCaptureToFile

-ViewCaptureToClipboard

have the command line resolution setting.

The difference is the first creates a file while the second placed the image on the Windows Clipboard so you can Paste it into something else.

Resolution is the number of image pixels assigned to each inch when an image is printed - measured in pixels per inch (ppi). Thus, the more pixels an image has per inch, the greater will be its resolution. And, a high-resolution image will produce a better quality printed output.

When changing the Dimensions or Resolution, remember that the image data remains constant until you resample it. If you change the resolution, the width and height will change accordingly to maintain the same amount of image data.

The file size of an image is the digital size of the image file, measured in kilobytes (K), megabytes (MB), or gigabytes (GB). File size is proportional to the pixel dimensions of the image. Images with more pixels may produce more detail at a given printed size, but they require more disk space to store and may be slower to edit and print. Image resolution thus becomes a compromise between image quality (capturing all the data you need) and file size.

Screen frequency is the number of printer dots or halftone cells per inch used to print grayscale images or color separations. Also known as screen ruling or line screen, screen frequency is measured in lines per inch (lpi), or lines of cells per inch in a halftone screen. The higher the resolution of the output device, the finer screen ruling you can use.

The relationship between image resolution and screen frequency determines the quality of detail in the printed image. To produce a halftone image of the highest quality, you generally use an image resolution that is about 1.5 to 2 times the screen frequency.

A resolution of 300 pixels/inch is perfect for viewing small prints from up close, but you can also opt for lower resolutions for large prints if they are intended to be viewed from far away. For example, if you are printing a billboard to be erected off a highway, you can print it at a lower resolution without compromising on the quality, because high resolution becomes less important as you move farther from the image.

Usually, printers have their default print resolution at 300 pixels/inch, and if you print an image with a lower resolution, they will adjust their image settings to print your image at the default resolution.

The image is redisplayed in its approximate printed size, as specified in the Document Size area of the Image Size dialog box. The size and resolution of your monitor affect the onscreen print size.

You can avoid the need for resampling by scanning or creating the image at a sufficiently high resolution. If you want to preview the effects of changing pixel dimensions onscreen or to print proofs at different resolutions, resample a duplicate of your file.

Changing the screen resolution of your Linux Virtual Machine can be a good option when you have slow broadband or you want to increase the speed of your VM. You can do this using two different methods described below.

I would like to alter the resolution and screen proportions of a character animation I am doing. I want it to be in portrait mode vs. landscape and I want it to be at a higher resolution than the screen is showing. Am I missing some little property settings box?
