Scraptron (the "app") is an Android game published by PixelPlex79. This document explains what data the app processes, and why.
In short
The app asks for no personal data and runs no server of its own. Your progress lives on your phone; if you sign in to Google Play Games, a copy is also kept on your Google account so it can follow you to a new phone, together with your achievements and leaderboard results. What leaves your device is what Google needs to show the ads you choose to watch, to keep that cloud save, achievements and leaderboards, and to handle purchases you choose to make.
Game progress
Your hangar (scrap, Iridium, unlocked ships, weapons and permanent upgrades), your best results, contracts, the pilot journal and your settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Nobody but you can read them there.
Cloud save, achievements and leaderboards (Google Play Games Services)
When the app starts, it signs you in to Google Play Games Services if it can. If the automatic sign-in fails, you can sign in later with SETTINGS - GOOGLE PLAY GAMES - SIGN IN. Signing in is optional: without it the game works the same and keeps your progress only on the phone.
When you are signed in, the app stores your game state (the progress described above, your settings and the list of your Iridium purchases) as a "saved game" on your Google account. Google keeps that save in the app's private space on your Google Drive; the developer has no access to it. If the save on your account holds more progress than the phone, the app asks you first: LOAD FROM ACCOUNT or KEEP THIS PHONE. Nothing is overwritten without your choice.
Google Play Games also records the achievements you unlock and your best DEPTHS results (the deepest sector reached) on the game's leaderboards. Other players may see your leaderboard entries and your Play Games profile (gamertag and avatar), depending on the visibility you choose in your Play Games profile settings. Google processes your Play Games player identity (player ID, gamertag, avatar) and SDK diagnostics under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
In-app purchases (Google Play)
Iridium packs can be bought for real money. Payment is handled solely by Google Play: the app never sees or stores card, address or other payment details. From Google the app receives only the product identifier and an order identifier, used to add the Iridium and confirm the purchase. The identifiers of your recent purchases are kept in your game save (on the phone and, when you are signed in, in the cloud save) so that a purchase is never credited twice and bought Iridium is not lost when you restore your progress from your account. Refunds and payment disputes are handled by Google Play under its own policies.
Updates
When the app starts, it asks Google Play whether a newer version is available and, if so, offers to download it. This check is performed by Google Play on your device; the developer receives no data from it.
Advertising
The app shows Google AdMob ads, and only ads you choose to watch: you get an in-game reward for watching one (for example a second chance after being shot down, doubled scrap after a round or a piece of Iridium). No ad ever appears on its own.
Google AdMob may process your device's advertising identifier and technical data (device model, approximate location derived from IP address, ad interaction data, crash and diagnostic data of the ad SDK) in order to select and measure ads. See How Google uses data (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites) and the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Consent (GDPR). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will be asked on first launch whether you consent to personalised advertising. You can change or withdraw that answer at any time: SETTINGS - AD CONSENT - CHANGE (this row appears where the law requires it). Declining does not remove ads; it means they are selected without using your data. You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier in Android settings (Settings - Google - Ads).
Permissions
Internet: used by the Google services described above (ads, Play Games, purchases, updates). Vibration: used only for haptic feedback while you play. Neither gives access to any data. The billing permission lets Google Play handle purchases.
What the app does NOT do
- it does not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number or any contact details,
- it does not read your contacts, photos, files, precise location or clipboard,
- it does not record audio or video,
- it runs no analytics or crash-reporting service of its own (Google's SDKs for ads, Play Games and payments may send their own diagnostics to Google, as described in Google's policy),
- it does not sell or share personal data with third parties, beyond the Google processing described above.
Deleting your data
- On the device: SETTINGS - RESET PROGRESS erases your scrap, upgrades, weapons, ships bought with scrap, records and contracts. Iridium, ships bought with Iridium and the list of your purchases stay, because you may have paid for them. To erase everything the game stored on the phone, uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings (Settings - Apps - Scraptron - Storage - Clear data).
- In the cloud (Google Play Games): delete your saved game, achievements, leaderboard entries and player ID for this game in the Google Play Games app (Settings - Delete Play Games account and data, or the per-game data deletion option), or from your Google account.
- Advertising identifier: reset or delete it in Android settings (Settings - Google - Ads).
- The developer keeps no accounts and no server holding player data, so there is nothing else to delete on our side. Questions: see "Contact" below.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
This policy may change as the app is updated. The date at the top always shows when it was last changed.
