Throw the "scrabble sponges" in the pool, then swim to collect all of the pieces. Both of my children are still learning to swim - so instead of making it a competition, we worked together to collect all of the pieces, or would take turns swimming out to grab a letter.

Once collected - play an age appropriate game of scrabble. With my 3 year old, we worked on putting the letters in alphabetical order, and finding the letters that made up his name - with my 5 year old, we'd see how many simple words we could form using the letters she had collected.

I'm doing the cs50 scrabble, for some reason it only returns numbers instead of telling me which player wins. I know I must have screwed up somewhere in my for loop, but I can't locate the problems:( Also I added int i and int n in the compute_score function because it keeps saying undeclare identifiers, I don't understand because I think they are within the scope of for loop. Noobie here, please advise!

But there is also a scrabble game natively for Ubuntu, called PyScrabble. You can install it via executing sudo apt-get install pyscrabble in the terminal or search for "PyScrabble" in the Software Center and install it.

I recently made these scrabble coasters for a friend for Christmas. These coasters are an extremely easy and customizable gift for any occasion. More importantly, they are really hard to screw up and anyone who can spell can make them. The most challenging part is trying to come up with phrases that are approximately the right length to fit on a coaster.

Multiple issues with the new Scrabble -letters not clearing from board when starting new game, letters shifting on the board when you are playing so that you can't tell where to play your word, Pogo not allowing you to play a word (one that you know is valid ie "HER"). You end up having to pass and hope that it allows you to play a word on your next move. Pogo - time to fix these glitches or I will move on to some other game site. Used to love scrabble but this is ruining it for me!

Good article. I copy and pasted the 2 and 3 letter words to my postit on my computer so i could slowly learn them throughout the days. would be cool if you could make a scrabble widget, so I can slowly learn all the 2 and 3 letter words. Wonder if it exists...

Great summary of tactics and strategies! I especially found helpful your list of words that seem incorrectly spelled but are not. I've been trying to memorize some of the short 2 & 3 letter word combinations. Most of the time I just remember any combination that involves a "J", "Z" or "X." I am pretty new to scrabble and other word games as I just started playing Scrabble and Words with Friends online this past July (thanks to my recent iPad purchase).

I play primarily online ans usually mostly Words with Friends, and I have received a lot of knowledge and strategy from players like you. I started using a new app called 'Cheats and Words' to further assist in my vocabulary and player development. Most of the time I use it to find out words that I could have played differently, long after a game has ended. I have learned a lot about word placement as a result.

We play scrabble almost everyday, we love to play scrabble. We are fascinated by scrabble because it is not a physical game and besides it is a mental game. it will help your mind enhance your brain memory. it also build closer relationship with your friends and love ones. With your information, I's sure I will be ahead of the race..hahahaha...

We dont play scrabble much at our house but my school kids love to use the letters to spell out their spelling test words for the week, I started it with my eldest who is not a big fan of writing as a different and fun way to memorize them and it seems to work

Thank you for 'the other side of the room' and I can totally relate to shaking the snowglobe and forgetting -- lol! Things like that happen to me all the time!! Love the scrabble tile tree but I think, for me at least, your O Christmas Tree message is perfect ;-) When I was homeschooling my kids, I used to play scrabble with them to add a little fun into learning to spell and how to use the dictionary. I think they'd love this as a gift and it would bring back some very happy memories.

I just made my chalkbord obsolete! I used the names of members of my family with "love" forming the base. I had the chalkboard and amazingly enough scrabble letters to form each name! A clever project, Karianne, and one that took me about 15 minutes to put together! Thanks so much! 0852c4b9a8
