The following is a list of some of the possible activities and things we would like to accomplish during Fall Service Day. In addition, the plan is for groups to take turns doing both the Adventure Trail Obstacle Course and the Target Range. Also, please refer to the 'WHAT TO BRING' page for information on what you are requested to bring with you.



WORK WEEKEND SERVICE TASKS TO DO

    1. ADVENTURE TRAIL OBSTACLE COURSE:

        1. Remove all branches and any rocks off of the trail

        2. Make the trail at least three (3) feet wide with approximately seven (7) plus feet of vertical clearance all along the trail by:

          1. Cutting down and removing any small trees blocking the trail and removing their stumps,

          2. Cutting back branches protruding into the three (3) foot wide trail area to the tree trunk,

          3. Level or fill in any potholes that could be dangerous.

        3. Place tree mulch around and under all obstacles to a depth of approximately four (4) to six (6) inches.

    2. TARGET RANGE TRAIL:

        1. Remove all branches and any rocks off of the trail,

        2. Remove any tree stumps from the trail,

        3. At the three (3) CAUTION taped off areas of the trail, lower the mound of dirt and put in the large holes to level the trail better,

    3. TARGET RANGE:

        1. Remove all branches and any rocks from the target range’s shooting area and the observing and waiting areas

        2. Construct a security fence using the provided pallets

        3. Construct benches in the waiting area from nearby downed trees. Larger trees have already been felled and cut to size. You will need to cut out the notches in the bottom logs to place the bench log on.

    4. CAMPSITES: At each of the campsites:

        1. Remove any fallen branches from the campsites’ useable spaces,

        2. Split any cut logs for firewood and stack them neatly

        3. Cover the Metal Fire Pits with a wooden A-frame using the provided pallets and supplies.

        4. At the HID-IN-PINES TIPI Campsite:

          1. Cut down small pine trees in the taped-off area

          2. Neatly pile burnable wood by the Tipi Entrance Area

        5. NOTE: EAGLE 75 Campsite is off limits to everyone due to the broken and dangerous trees around it.

    5. TRAILS FROM THE NEW PARKING LOT AREA TO THE FIELD:

        1. Cut down any small trees on trails from the new parking lot area to the field and remove the stumps.

    6. ROAD TO CAMPSITES ON THE HILL (ZONE C):

        1. Cut back all branches protruding into the road area.

        2. In the areas identified near both the EAGLE 75 and HID-IN-PINES TIPI campsite entrances cut down any trees in the areas indicated with the caution tape. These areas will be used as parking spots for those campsites so that one vehicle and trailer can be kept at the site.

    7. TRAILS FROM CABIN:

        1. Remove all branches from the trails'.

        2. Cut down or back any small trees protruding into the trails.


NOTE: IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY AWARE OF IT THE LAND AT SCOUT CAMP OTTER LAKE QC IS COMPOSED PRIMARILY OF SAND WITH A COUPLE OF INCHES/CENTIMETERS OF BLACK LOAM DIRT. SO, IT IS EASY TO DIG WHEN NECESSARY!
