HID-IN-PINES TIPI CAMPSITE
LOCATION
Located at the end of the road going up the hill, opposite the Field Parking Area. At the end of the road there is a 15 meter long trail on the left side of the road that goes around the young pine grove and to the Tipi and campsite. The site is approximately 400 meters from Field Parking Area.
SITE DESCRIPTION
This site:
Has a 25 1/2 foot diameter Tipi that can accommodate up to about 15+ adult size individuals.
Is located in a clearing surrounded by young Pine trees, and
Is fairly grass covered and has a nice sandy base for the tents, and
Is excellent for a Section size group, and
Has a designated campfire area with a permanent metal fireplace.
CAPACITY - PERSONS
This site has a maximum capacity of 35 persons.
CAPACITY - TENTS
This site has:
A 25 1/2 foot diameter Tipi that can accommodate up to about 15+ adult size individuals.
Space for:
An additional three (3) or four (4) tents - (3 - 4 person tents), and
A kitchenette
PICNIC TABLE
This site has one (1) Picnic Table
BBQ
Site includes a large BBQ
KYBO/PRIVY
Three (3) Kybos are available for this site.
The first is located by the camp entrance gate, and
The second and third are located further down the road at the 'Y', also accessible by trail at back Southeast corner of the campsite.
WATER
POTABLE WATER - As with the entire camp, there is no potable water available on site. Potable water is available a mere 1.1 Km from the camp's gate at the Otter Lake Municipal Building located at 15 Palmer Avenue, Otter Lake, QC J0X 2P0. Click here for directions and map to Potable Water.
NON-POTABLE WATER - For Non-Potable Water you can use the water from the lake.
CAMPFIRES
Campfires are permitted at this site provided:
They are done in the designated campfire area using the portable fire pits available in the Wood Storage Shed, and
Within arms reach of the fire area is a means of extinguishing the fire. Pails are available in the Wood Storage Shed for lake water.
NOTE: If you will be teaching and having youth how to start a fire and provided there will be less than three (3) at any time, do it within the designated campfire area and have multiple pails of water available. There should be no reason to put any pre-cut firewood or large logs onto the learners fires. If there will be doing more than three (3) learning to do fires, please do this exercise at the main campfire area in the Ravine - the Tutelary Campfire Area. You may want to reserve a time for the Tutelary Campfire Area to ensure you have access to it.
PARKING
One vehicle and a utility trailer can park at the end of the road. Note: Turn-around area is either by the Kybos or at the Boulder Face site entrance.
Additional, parking for this site is in the Field Parking Lot.
