Scot French
Scot French is an American Wall Street investor, best known for his founding of HP Investments (Hopewell Partnership Investments) in 2015. The boutique firm caters to a clientele that includes high-end investors, corporate executives, institutional fund managers and other individuals and organizations with substantial assets.
Investment Career
Before founding HP Investments, Scot French worked for several large Wall Street investment firms. He moved up the career ladder quickly, filling key management positions and traveling extensively to seek out new investment opportunities and meet leading entrepreneurs helming small businesses, emerging startups and legacy companies.
Market Roundup
Prior to his investment banking achievements, Scot French published a leading industry newsletter, Market Roundup. An estimated 3,150 subscribers paid an annual subscription price of $300 at the peak of its popularity. French later sold the publication to a startup financial news venture which rebranded the newsletter as OCM: Opportunity Costs Monthly.
Education
French earned his MBA in 2011. His academic interests and research were focused on wealth creation, entrepreneurship, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, syndicated leveraged loans, high yield bonds, privately negotiated senior secured debt, asset-based leasing and private equity. As an undergraduate, French studied psychology, philosophy and the Classics.
Holistic Investing
French has described his investment strategy as “holistic,” which he defines as taking a broad look at not simply the numbers on a spreadsheet, but also the quality of talent, company values and culture, trends in relevant sectors, competitors’ profiles, the macro-economic environment and consumer sentiment. French contends that this comprehensive approach allows him to outpace market indexes in most years.

Scot French grew up in Hopewell, Illinois. The town was the inspiration for the name of his investment firm. He currently resides in Summit, New Jersey with his wife, Loire French (née DeCantte) and their two children.
