Please email the contact person for your society the following information. (You may find this text editor useful in helping you avoid jargon):

Your position / career stage, institution, state, and country, and which society(ies) you are a member of
A photo of yourself
A short summary that includes: where you are originally from, where you work now, your career stage, and a summary of your research and how it benefits society. If you are or your research is supported by federal funds in some way, briefly explain how the support is used.
A longer, factual account of the impacts of U.S. federal and state policies since Janary 20, 2025 to you, your department, your institution, and/or your field of science. Examples may include the effects of: cuts to the federal workforce, budget cuts, funding freezes, cuts to indirect costs, restrictions on research, hiring freezes, chilling effect on free speech, effects on international research, uncertainty about the future, human rights concerns, and changes to DEI policies.
Make sure to include the timeframe for the impact. Details like specific dates, specific budget impacts (e.g., dollar amounts), and specific personnel impacts can be helpful. Where relevant, please describe how this is detrimental to the public interest, and what the immediate or foreseable effects to society will be. If the harm is irreparable, please explain. Impactful narratives use factual, informative language.
