Nunzio Denora

Nunzio Denora received his degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Bari Aldo Moro in 2001, followed by a PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Palermo in 2004. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of Kansas University, US (2005-2006), under the supervision of Prof. Valentino J. Stella.

After his postdoctoral position, he was appointed as an assistant professor and research scientist in Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Bari. Since 2023, he has been a full professor in Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Sciences, leading a research laboratory focused on advanced drug delivery systems.

Denora has an extensive publication record with over 195 articles and has patented 9 methods related to the production and formulation of active pharmaceutical ingredients and diagnostics. He headed for 7 years the Inter-University Consortium CIRCSMB research group of Bari, focusing on "Inorganic-based Drug Delivery Systems" and serves as a Scientific Advisor for pharmaceutical companies.

He is actively involved in professional societies, serving on the Board of SITELF (Italian Society of Researchers and Professors in Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs) and as a scientific advisory board member for European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure – EPTRI. Additionally, Denora coordinates the Industrial PhD Course in “Sustainable technologies for medicines and diagnostics development - TeSSMeD” and serves as a board member for several prominent journals in the pharmaceutics field including Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and International Journal of Pharmaceutics.

His research interests include the development of advanced drug delivery systems using techniques such as 3D printing, prilling technology, and microfluidics.
