Stefano Del Buffa

Alfatest, Italy

SDB graduated in Chemistry at the University of Florence in 2013 and started collaborating with the Italian Center of Colloid and Nanoscience (C.S.G.I.) on industry-funded projects aiming at the post-synthetic functionalization of polymer films. In 2016 he obtained a PhD in Chemical Science (University of Florence) with a thesis entitled: Biodegradable Polymer/Clay Nanotubes Composites. The main objective of his research was the physico-chemical characterization of inorganic 1D structures and their integration with biodegradable polymers for controlled release and biomedical applications. In 2017 he joined the group of Prof. Samorì at the Institut de Science et d’Ingenierie Supramolecualires – ISIS in Strasbourg where he worked on organic and inorganic 2D nanomaterials for sensing and enhanced sorption applications. During that period, he was mainly focused on the mechanical exfoliation on 2D materials and their characterization by means of AFM and gas-sorption techniques.

From 2019 to 2021 he worked as a R&D chemist in a company that manufactured electroplating baths and surface finishing formulations.

In 2021 he joined Alfatest where he currently works as a product manager for the thermal analysis and polymer processing business unit.
