Recipient of the Aquarion Environmental Champion Award: The Aquarion Environmental Champion Award was given with a $5,000 grant for significantly contributing to improve the environment through protection, education, and stewardship. With several miles of accessible trails for hiking, skiing, hiking, and general use, community members were invited to participate in outdoor activities all year round.
Recipient of the Project Green School Green Difference Award: Awarded based on creating a more sustainable school with education and action projects. I implemented a recycling and composting program. I wrote and won a grant which replaced all lights with energy efficient LEDs at no cost to the district.
Lighting Project & Awarded USDA Grant for $107k: Through work with my sustainability student group I wrote for and earned a USDA Rural Development grant to replace all the lights in our high school with energy-efficient LEDs at no cost to the district. This was one of the first steps in our energy reduction plan on the pathway to a ‘greener’ school.
Sustainable Culture of Northern NH Event at WMRHS: A student-led conference about sustainability work in Northern New Hampshire where students, businesses, and environmental groups got together to talk about sustainability.
