Every year, IISc opens its gates to the public on the occasion of Open day. The general public will be able to visit the cutting edge research going on in the labs of IISc. However, these experiments and demonstrations are too advanced for the kids visiting the institute during the Open day. So, we decided to have a separate platform for kids, called as "Kids’ Zone". The concept was to have a common platform where basic school level science experiments are demonstrated by students from different department . So far, we have organized Kids' zone twice, during the 2017 and 2018 Open days. Scroll on for details.
Kids' Zone 2017
Kids' Zone was introduced during the Open day of 2017 (March). The venue was near Old aerospace building, opposite to the Choksi Hall. Volunteers from different departments came together to perform around 45 experiments/demonstrations. The event was a phenomenal success. Snaps from the event are available in the gallery below.
Kids' Zone 2018
Following the grand success of KZ 2017, we organized Kids' Zone 2018 the following year. The venue remained the same, near Old aerospace building, opposite to the Choksi Hall. More volunteers from more departments gathered together to give an even grander show (around 60 experiments). Snaps from the event are available in the gallery below.
