Virtual Symposium

Health Inequities Exposed and Exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic

June 30th, 2021

#Sci4COVIDhealthequity

A Virtual Symposium of 3 Panels, Keynote,

and Networking

Throughout United States history, disenfranchised communities -- people of color, low-income, rural populations, sexual/gender minorities, and those with disabilities -- have had unequal access to technology, healthcare, and social services.
This results in severe public health and economic consequences that have been further exposed and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing these disparities will require cross-sector strategies and interdisciplinary coordination from advocates, practitioners, policymakers and researchers examining the health, education, environmental justice, social and behavioral sciences, law, and technology implications of the pandemic.
This symposium aims to leverage and showcase these diverse perspectives to provide attendees with a more accurate and holistic view of the pandemic’s impact on health, including various perspectives and implications, and the consequences of inequity that we will all be working to address well into the future.
