Your goal with the biography page is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the events in this person’s life that made them who they were/are.
Your website visitor should leave with a clear understanding of the person, their motivations, goals, challenges, etc. that affected the life of your person and the decisions they made as a scientist.
Life and career: start with a history from birth to death (or present day if still living).
Things to include would be:
◈ date and place of birth ◈
◈ parents ◈
◈ cultural heritage ◈
◈ early life and education ◈
◈ academic education ◈
◈ personal relationships and influential friendships ◈
◈ major areas of interest and study ◈
◈ personal hobbies ◈
◈ children (if any) ◈
◈ death or current status ◈
◈ anything else that gives the website visitor an understanding of your person of interest as a real person
Professional career: this is an overview of their professional life and career as a scientist, mathematician, engineer, or inventor. Include in your overview the interesting and important contributions your person made to their field of study.
You will go into great detail of the SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION of your person in your Video Documentary. You may mention that contribution here, but do not spend a lot of time on it in the Biography Page. Instead, focus on the other accomplishments your person achieved, in other words what else they may be known for.
Create a timeline of the main events, starting with your person’s birth and ending with death or current status.
You may create a timeline in any way you choose. Some suggestions for this include:
A sub-page to the biography page, with a list view including dates and events
a timeline created with the drawing tools in Google Slides or Drawings
the timeline MUST be a graphic and cannot be a list of dates
Include related images, primary source videos, or graphics: you may include any pictures, primary source videos (ex: an interview with the scientist), or graphics and tables that relate to the scientist
All resources must be included in your bibliography
Other considerations
Thoughtful web design: use different section colors and images in a way that will set your website apart.
Remember: Less is BEST! Your website must be easy to understand and navigate
Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation: your information must be free from spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors
Use the spelling and grammar tools found in Google Docs to help you out
Ask a friend or parent to proofread your work
