Your computer is there in that minimum for CPU rendering but you will not be able to utilize GPU rendering without Nvidia GPU.

From my experience, your computer is on the low side with specs and if you will render products probably it will work with CPU render just fine, slow but will work.

For comfortable, faster, rendering Vray will utilize all of your CPU cores, so as many you can buy than better. The same goes for GPU rendering, the better, unfortunately also more expensive, GPU you can buy faster the rendering will be.

And as you can see this is not photorealistic. If you want photorealistic Renders with Vray you need to wait not seconds, but minutes till one image is rendered (on my Windows-PC).

I love my Macbook and do everything with it. But not Gaming and not Rendering, which I use a PC for. My opinion: this real thin Apple-Machines are not made for rendering hours-long with 100% cpu-/gpu-usage.

I only would like to render and get as close to reality as possible because my house is being rebuild and I would like to test and see as many material combinations as possible so I can decide which I like best. The materials are all from a store which say they are connected to sketchup/3dwarehouse.

It looks good for sure and is very handy for the specific layouts of the project. I did that already it sketchup helped me a lot to visualize. But I think its not good enough for what I want to do now, which really is comparing for example the colour white in different structures of porcelain. And not just white, just every colour in the bathroom. I guess I am an perfectionist and am hard to choose, most will be awesome anyway if I buy all new but I just would like to try combinations of textures and colours. For this I really need rendering I think. I need to decide within 10 days or so as I have a contract with builders. I have loads of time so I can try to learn it (within those 10 days :D).

For the light hitting the ceiling to be white, the cupboards would naturally be darker than white. You could fix the image after rendering, to prefer that the cupboards are white and the ceiling is overblown.

If your model is complex or a particularly large file, rendering could take a while. Are you getting a failed to render message or something else? What happens if you go to your content in the 3D Warehouse via your web browser?

Its 2.8MB - odd again, since it is simple and I have more complex files with smaller size - maybe its because it was created 1 year ago?

No failed message, just what I described first - I have always used it via web browser and only the 2 files I have tried to upload (previously saved files on my hard drive) appeared on my warehouse but saying it was rendering. Something was definitely stuck somewhere.

I am looking for advice on the best software for rendering. We are moving into doing more render work for clients and I have heard of a few people using a combination of Revit & Sketchup for their design processes. Mainly Sketchup for Rendering purposes. To anyone that has used both, in your experience, do you find any benefit to use Sketchup for rendering and Revit for the construction drawings? I am trying to decide if its worth learning Sketchup for this reason. Is it faster than Revit? Are the renderings comparable? or is it worth it to just do it all in Revit?

GPU rendering allows V-Ray to perform the raytracing calculations on the GPU cards installed in the system, rather than the CPU. Since GPUs are specifically designed for massively parallel calculations, they can speed up the rendering process by an order of magnitude. V-Ray GPU uses NVidia CUDA or RTX device(s) to perform the raytracing calculations.

This is why, it is strongly recommended to not switch between engines in the middle of your project - if you start setting up a scene with the regular V-Ray engine, use it for the entire project. The render settings will only show the available options and your scene will be optimized for GPU rendering.

It works only with C++/CPU devices. V-Ray GPU can still be used in distributed rendering where a macOS machine runs the CUDA engine on a CPU device together with Windows/Linux machine(s) running CUDA engine on GPU device(s).

You may not want to use all available GPU devices for rendering, especially if you have multiple GPUs and you want to leave one of them free for working on the user interface or you may want to combine your CPU and GPU together (see the Hybrid Rendering section below).

Starting in 3.60, V-Ray GPU can perform hybrid rendering with the CUDA engine utilizing both the CPU and NVIDIA GPUs. V-Ray can now execute the CUDA source on the CPU, as though the CPU was another CUDA device. To enable the hybrid rendering mode, simply enable the C++/CPU device from the list of CUDA devices.
