Professional Learning Communities

Citywide Physical Education Professional Learning Communities for grades K-12 physical education teachers meet monthly on Mondays in all boroughs. Register for an upcoming session to network with other PE professionals, and work together to strengthen the instructional practice and leadership skills needed to champion PE and wellness in your school community.

Physical Education Professional Learning Communities (PE PLCs)

Target Audience: Grades K-12 physical education teachers

Prerequisite: None

CTLE Hours: Not Applicable

Physical Education Professional Learning Communities (PE PLCs) meet monthly on Mondays Citywide for professional learning sessions. At these sessions, K-12 physical education teachers collaborate with other PE professionals to strengthen their instructional practice and develop the leadership skills needed to champion PE and wellness in their school communities. PLC sessions address instructional problems of practice identified by each individual community and are grounded in content identified in the NYC Physical Education Scope and Sequence.

Secondary Physical Education Professional Learning Communities (PE PLCs)

Target Audience: Grades 6-12 physical education teachers

Physical Education Professional Learning Communities (PE PLCs) meet monthly on Mondays Citywide for professional learning sessions. At these sessions, secondary-level physical education teachers collaborate with other PE professionals to strengthen their instructional practice and develop the leadership skills needed to champion PE and wellness in their school communities. PLC sessions address instructional problems of practice identified by each individual community and are grounded in content identified in the NYC Physical Education Scope and Sequence.

Administrator Physical Education Professional Learning Communities (PE PLCs)

Target Audience: Secondary administrators of physical and health education (open to administrators only.)

Prerequisite: None

CTLE Hours: Not Applicable

In the Administrator Physical Education Professional Learning Community (APLC) meetings, supervisors of physical education will meet to work collaboratively and network with other administrators to improve the quality of physical education instruction in their schools. The overarching goal of APLCs is to create a framework for administrators to support one another through intervisitation, professional learning, and resource sharing.
