New for 2017-18:

Professional Learning Pathways

The professional learning sessions listed in this catalog offer a wide variety of opportunities for teachers to broaden and deepen their knowledge in their field. New this year, Professional Learning Pathways consist of recommended sequences of professional learning sessions specifically for physical education and health education teachers.

When taken sequentially as part of a Pathway, these sessions build subject area mastery, expertise in delivering instruction, and collaboration among educators in order to serve students’ instructional needs. In this catalog, sessions that are part of the Pathways are titled Basics, and progress in levels from I to V.

In creating the Professional Learning Pathways, the Office of School Wellness Programs is also responding to educators’ needs – for leadership training, for career advancement, and for engagement in a vital community of professionals who support, lead, and inspire other educators committed to providing the highest quality PE and health education instruction to New York City’s public school students.
