In 1990, she graduated from Kharkiv State University named after O. Gorky (now V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University).

Since October 1990, she has been working at the institute as a senior laboratory assistant with a higher education in the laboratory of biochemical and immunoenzymatic methods of research, since September 1993 - a junior researcher, from July 2010 to the present - a researcher of this unit.

Olena Shchenyavska conducts biochemical, immunoenzymatic and molecular genetic studies. She determined the concentration in blood serum of a wide range of biologically active compounds, namely angipoietin-2, VEGF, insulin, FGF-23, growth differentiation factor-11, NT-proBNP, soluble Klotho protein. She researched indicators of oxidative stress and introduced the determination of glutathione transferase activity into the practice of the laboratory. Olena Shchenyavska ensures the isolation of DNA, RNA, microRNA from various types of biological material. Using the real-time PCR method, she performs genotyping of polymorphisms (in particular, the Klotho gene, GSTP1 glutathione transferase genes, and microsomal epoxide hydrolase ERNA1), determination of the composition of the intestinal microbiota at the level of the main phylotypes, determination of the relative content of miRNA in blood plasma.

Olena Shchenyavska actively participates in the development of standard operating procedures for laboratory safety in accordance with the requirements of ISO 15189. She is a co-executor of laboratory fragments of several research works of the institute.

For many years of conscientious work, she was repeatedly awarded certificates and thanks from the administration of the L.T. Malaya Therapy National Institute of National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine.

She is the author of more than 220 printed works, 14 declaratory patents of Ukraine, has 6 certificates of copyright registration for a scientific work.
