All schemes of work are free to HA Members, along with a host of other resources and benefits. If you are not yet an HA Member, you can get a taster of our schemes of work through our open-access Anglo-Saxons unit, our open-access EYFS unit and our open-access Age of Revolutions unit.

Please note: The majority of these schemes of work were produced between 2014-2019 by members of the HA primary committee and its affiliates. While the units all contain resource suggestions, only those marked with an asterisk* are fully-resourced schemes of work. All the schemes of work are designed to support your planning and should be moulded and adapted to fit the context and needs of your own school. To view a sample scheme of work, please refer to our Anglo-Saxons unit.

The Projects on a Page scheme of work was introduced in 2014 to help primary schools in England implement the National Curriculum for D&T in an imaginative way.

Based on universal principles of effective teaching and learning in D&T, it is also a valuable resource for schools in other parts of the UK and further afield.

Year 3-6 The Key Practitioners- focuses on a selection of recommended key individuals from across the design and technology specialisms. This is focused for KS2 but can be delivered at any time across those year groups. The planner gives your ideas for how you can incorporate key individuals into your planning and units of work as well as giving you an overview of each of the recommended individuals so as to help you select the most relevant practitioner for your planning and also to introduce them to your pupils.

Year 5/6 Frame Structures using Tinkercad - looks at how Tinkercad can be used to explore frame structures in Years 5 and 6, but also how the new simulation tools can be used to test the virtual models. It is an FEA (Finite Element Analysis) at primary level. FEA is used in advanced programs by some secondary schools to test structures and components in CAD using virtual materials.

This is an exciting, hands-on resource comprising over 200 whole-class lesson plans. These can be used with a class in their very first week at school in Year 1 right through to their last week in Year 6. Each lesson plan focuses on a text, provides prompts for discussion and gives clearly explained, engaging activities to suit all learning styles. The lesson plans are based on 152 popular children's books. There are many cross-curricular opportunities, with specific links to literacy, particularly through the drama, speaking and listening plans of the Renewed Primary Strategy. The scheme also includes Circle Time games specially selected for their positive effect on the emotional well-being of the child. The author, who is an Advanced Skills Teacher, spent two years developing the scheme of work. Each lesson plan has been tried and tested in many schools and is steeped in excellent primary practice. The scheme is designed to support the aims of the Every Child Matters agenda. The plans are differentiated by year group and are set out in modules which each last for six weeks, making the resource a manageable format for class teachers to use and an ideal solution to the delivery of SEAL Primary.

The NAPPS National Scheme of Work for Primary 1-2-3 is a comprehensive and interactive curriculum guide designed for teachers and educators. It provides a structured framework for delivering high-quality lessons to primary school students, covering subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, and more. This scheme of work is aligned with the national curriculum and includes detailed lesson plans, activities, and assessment tools to support effective teaching and learning. With its user-friendly format and engaging content, the NAPPS National Scheme of Work is an invaluable resource for teachers to enhance their classroom instruction and ensure student success.

It is not the role of ASE to recommend schemes of work to schools and schools should always talk to other schools about what they are using and also request samples from publishers so that they can review before buying.

There are also a range of cross curricular/creative schemes. The thing to bear in mind with these is that the science can become very piecemeal and coverage of the national curriculum may not be good. There may also be long periods of time when science is not taught regularly as it does not fit with the topic. If science is taught in this way it is important that the school can show full coverage and good progression.

Finally, there are some schemes where the company provide a box of resources and training on delivering the lessons. These are very expensive but are appealing to some schools. Again, it is important to check progression and coverage, particularly if the whole of a Key Stage is doing the same topic.

The Ealing health improvement team, along with local primary schools, have developed a new PSHE scheme of work for primary schools. This scheme of work is fully planned and resourced for nursery to year six.

The updated scheme of work includes many new topics including migration, charity, mental health and resilience, homelessness, drugs and alcohol education and relationships and sex education.

JSOW is based on The National Curriculum in England, 2013 and consists of tasks of A1 level, provided by JF Standard for Japanese-Language Education, which was developed by theJapan Foundation in 2010, based on the concept Common European Framework of Referencefor Languages (CEFR).

Please note that the materials on this page have been superseded by the new scheme of work and resources under the Yr 3 / Yr 4 / Yr 5 / Yr 6 sections of the Primary Resources part of this website.

This page reflects different aspects of my involvement with primary languages over the past few years. The first section contains materials I have used for primary training and development sessions in the support of primary colleagues in our feeder schools in their planning for teaching languages in their schools.

The second section has some materials that I have written and used with classes since starting to teach Y3 - 6 Spanish in one of our feeder primary schools. This section is a work in progress and I will add more materials on an ongoing basis.

The third section contains materials I made some time ago to support primary teachers in introducing Spanish to their pupils - although these are now some years old, I hope they may still be of some use to teachers, particularly non-specialists as the audio is included.

I am currently teaching Spanish to years 3, 4, 5 and 6 in one of our feeder primary schools. I am using a mixture of materials written by one of the ASTs in our department, Leigh McClelland, together with some materials I am writing as I go along. I have found it helpful, as I only see each class once a week, and they all have different amounts of prior learning, to put together a booklet that we can use together in class. As we cover (or revise) key language they use the traffic light system of coloured dots on each page to show me how confident they feel with the language on it. This is my first attempt at these booklets and I'm sure they will change and develop over time but they may be useful for teachers to use or adapt.

Training

We look forward to working with you at the 3 training sessions, which will give you an interactive musical experience to enable you to deliver the units. Buying the Scheme of Work includes training on all units of work for one member of staff.

If you've already purchased our scheme but have had a change in Music Lead, we can offer the 3 day training package for 1 attendee at the reduced price of 200. By attending all 3 sessions they will have a full overview of the progression model across the whole school, gain top tips for delivery and how to support the wider staff in teaching each unit.

This training is also suitable for schools returning to using our scheme as there have been important updates to meet the expectations of the Model Music Curriculum. Your Music Lead will gain a full understanding of what these changes are and some of the new features included in our updated plans.

Need a more bespoke approach for your whole staff?

We can offer twilight or INSET day training on any unit from the scheme that you would like a refresher session on. Covering the progression route, common vocabulary and practical tips as well as a selection of examples from specific year groups. Cost: 150 per hour / Half day 310 / Whole day 450

With the introduction of the new curriculum and the drive for a mastery approach, the primary school mathematics schemes of work providers have been working hard to ensure their materials and lessons are up to scratch for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. There are now more of them than ever, some paid, some free and of course some primary schools still opt to go it alone.

Usually, it is almost impossible for headteachers, school leaders, and Maths Coordinators to make a decision about which Maths scheme of work will be most successful in their primary school based only on the review materials and sample lessons provided by the schemes themselves. Moreover, the increasing focus on mastery within the new curriculum means it is important you find a Mathematics scheme of work which aligns with these changes (as not all do!).

We support 500 schools every week to improve their Maths progress and attainment with our specialised 1-to-1 tuition; many of them are looking for advice and guidance on choosing the right Maths scheme of work and lessons, which is why we created the SLT Guide to Choosing your Maths Scheme of Work to support primary school Headteachers and Maths Coordinators in making the best possible choice for their KS1 and KS2 classes. 2351a5e196
