Smart Jobs Caseworker, SCC Career Services
Everyday "L's":
Since my head is usually in the clouds, I don’t always notice what goes wrong. For instance, I was ready to change the battery in my cars remote since the trunk didn’t open, until I realized I had the wrong car! My focus is to enjoy the moment and find the humor in being human.
Memories I made while I wasn't studying/working:
I’ve always enjoyed being outdoors, so I have many fond memories of spending time around the campfire, fishing, and hiking. Now that I’m able to work part-time, I enjoy traveling with my husband.
Things I'm proud of that you won't see on my resumé:
Being a crafty person, I’m the go-to for the bulletin board at work. I’m always willing to help with parties and special events. I’ve been working on improving my drawing skills and enjoy being creative.
Obstacles I have overcome:
Since I was a first-generation college student, it was hard to get started and know how to graduate college. When I joined the military, I found the support and encouragement I needed, even if it took me ten years. I’m proud of the support systems we have at SCC to help our students!
Unconventional Skills:
I’ve worked in many fields over my career, Civil Engineering, Radcon Technician, Safety and Environmental, Industrial Technology as well as more “conventional” (for women) jobs like Education and Training, Administration, Teaching and Customer Service. I’m interested in science and technology and have good mechanical skills.
