The name comes from the Wizard of Oz. The Lion was in search of courage, the Tin Man in search of a heart, and our dear Scarecrow who is in search of a brain. It then seems almost poetic to name ourselves Scarecrow Critical Thinking.
We are in search of improving our dispositions, as critical thinkers and as human beings. If you're reading this, then we suspect you too are interested in such.
**Disclaimer: Just to be clear, we’re not claiming to be experts on critical thinking - we just want to aid in the facilitation of the conversation.
1. It can help us develop the skills and thinking tools to make better judgments
Such as getting to know how we can map out “elements” of our thought processes, which includes knowing how to ask yourself if you truly are making an informed decision, or understanding how to ask the right questions
2. Critical thinking also helps us with developing intellectual traits and virtues
For example: intellectual humility and intellectual courage. When was the last time we felt comfortable with admitting that we didn’t know as much as we thought we did, or the last time you challenged a belief you hold close to?
