This Privacy Policy describes how the Scanner app (“the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information when you use our application. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting it.
1.1 Camera and media access
The App lets you capture documents with the camera and import images from your Photos library. These images are used to create scans and PDFs on your device. We do not upload your scanned pages or PDFs to our own servers for storage or processing of the core scanning feature.
1.2 Data stored on your device
Generated PDFs and related data are stored locally in the App’s storage on your device. You can delete documents from within the App. If you choose to save exports to Photos, those files are stored in your library under your control.
1.3 Subscription and account-related data (third-party services)
To offer in-app purchases and subscriptions, the App uses RevenueCat, with Firebase Authentication used to create or use an anonymous user identifier so your purchase can be tied to your device across sessions. We do not require you to provide a name, email, or password for this anonymous flow. These providers process data needed to validate and restore purchases according to their own privacy policies.
1.4 Advertising
The App may show Google AdMob advertisements. AdMob and its partners may collect and use identifiers and usage-related data to show and measure ads, subject to Google’s policies and your device settings (including App Tracking Transparency if you are prompted and choose to allow or deny tracking).
1.5 What we do not collect ourselves
The App does not ask you to create a traditional account with us, and we do not use the App to collect your contacts or precise location for the scanning features described above.
We use camera and photo library access only to provide the App’s core features, including:
Capturing and processing document scans
Building and previewing PDFs
Optional saving or exporting to Photos or other sharing flows you initiate
Subscription-related processing is used to unlock Pro features and restore purchases. Advertising-related processing is used to display ads to users who are not Pro subscribers, where applicable.
The App may request permission to:
Use the camera — to scan documents
Access Photos — to import images for scanning
Add to Files — to save scanned documents to your library (when you choose to save)
These permissions are used only for the actions you explicitly take in the App.
Document scanning and PDF creation run on your device. Your scan files are not sent to our servers for the core scanning workflow. Third-party services (Firebase, RevenueCat, AdMob) operate under their own security practices; we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
On your device: You control your saved scans and can remove documents from the App; you can manage files in Photos through the system.
Subscriptions and ads: You can manage subscription and payment settings through Apple; you can limit ad tracking via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (and related options) on your device.
Personal data on our servers: We do not operate a general user database for the scanning content described in section 1.1; identifiers used for anonymous auth and purchases are handled by the third parties listed above.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
