Welcome to Scanly ("Scanly", "we", "our", or "us").
Scanly is a document scanning application that allows users to scan documents, identity cards, books, and QR codes, create PDF documents, save scanned documents, and share generated files with other applications.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how Scanly accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our application.
By using Scanly, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Scanly requires access to your device's camera to provide scanning functionality, including:
Document scanning
ID card scanning
Book scanning
QR code scanning
Camera access is used only when you actively use a scanning feature.
Scanly does not use the camera to continuously monitor you or record in the background.
When you scan a document, ID card, book page, or other material, Scanly processes the resulting image to provide scanning, cropping, enhancement, PDF creation, and related functionality.
Scanned content may contain personal or sensitive information depending on what you choose to scan.
Unless otherwise stated within the application, your scanned documents and generated PDFs are processed and stored locally on your device and are not uploaded by Scanly to our own servers.
When you use the QR scanner, Scanly accesses the camera to read the QR code.
The information contained in the QR code is processed to provide the requested QR scanning functionality. Scanly does not intentionally collect QR code contents for its own database.
Information accessed or generated through Scanly is used to provide the application's functionality, including:
Capturing document images
Detecting and cropping documents
Processing ID cards and book pages
Reading QR codes
Creating PDF files
Saving documents on your device
Allowing you to share files using other applications
Improving application performance and reliability
We do not sell your scanned documents, ID card images, or QR code contents.
Scanly is designed to keep your scanned documents and generated files on your device.
We do not intentionally upload your scanned documents or ID card images to our own servers for storage.
If you choose to share a scanned document using WhatsApp, email, cloud storage, or another application, the information is transferred according to the privacy policy and practices of that third-party service.
You are responsible for reviewing the privacy practices of applications and services with which you choose to share your documents.
Scanly may display advertisements through third-party advertising services, including Google AdMob.
Advertising providers may collect certain information from your device, such as advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location information, diagnostics, and information about advertising interactions, depending on the configuration of the advertising SDK and your device settings.
This information may be used to provide, personalize, measure, and improve advertisements and advertising services.
Scanly does not provide your scanned documents, ID card images, or QR code contents to advertisers.
Google's privacy practices are described in Google's own privacy documentation.
Scanly does not intentionally collect or maintain a database of:
Your scanned document contents
Your ID card images
Your book scans
Your QR code contents
Your contacts
Your phone call history
Your SMS messages
Your passwords
Your financial account information
unless you voluntarily provide such information through another service or feature.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Scanly may involve third-party service providers where necessary to provide application functionality, advertising, analytics, security, or technical services.
Third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies.
If you use Scanly's sharing functionality, information is shared with the application or service you select. For example, if you choose WhatsApp to share a PDF, WhatsApp receives the file as part of your requested sharing action.
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Scanly.
Because scanned documents are stored locally on your device, you should protect your device using appropriate security measures such as a screen lock, PIN, password, fingerprint, or other available security mechanism.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Scanly does not intentionally maintain your scanned documents on our own servers.
Scanned documents and generated files stored locally remain on your device until you delete them or they are removed through your device's storage management.
If you uninstall Scanly, locally stored application data may be removed by the Android operating system, subject to your device's configuration and backup settings.
If you share a file with another application or service, deletion from Scanly does not necessarily delete copies held by that third-party service.
Scanly is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of maintaining user accounts or profiles.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
Depending on the features you use, Scanly may request permissions such as:
Camera permission: Required for document, ID card, book, and QR scanning.
Scanly requests permissions only when they are needed for the relevant functionality.
You can manage application permissions through your Android device settings.
Scanly may allow you to share documents and PDFs with third-party applications installed on your device.
Once information is transferred to a third-party application, that information is governed by the third party's own privacy policy and terms.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party applications.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Scanly, our services, or applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage users to periodically review this page.
