Welcome to the ScanLook PDF application (hereinafter referred to as "the App"). The App is a utility application developed by us, designed to help you efficiently manage, convert, and process PDF documents. We understand the importance of your personal information and are committed to protecting your privacy and data security. This Privacy Policy aims to clearly explain how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use our services, as well as the rights you have. Please read and understand the full content of this policy carefully before using the App. By using the App, you signify that you have fully understood and agree to all terms of this policy.
1. Information We Collect
To provide core features and services, we collect information in the following ways during your use of the App:
Information Necessary for Functionality:
File and Storage Permissions: Core features of the App (such as displaying PDF lists, previewing, scanning to generate PDFs, splitting/merging files, etc.) require access to your device's storage. We only access directories necessary for the App's operation (e.g., download folders, the App's dedicated folder) to read, create, modify, or delete PDF files. We will not access your other personal files without your permission, nor will we upload your file content to our servers for processing. All file processing operations are performed locally on your device.
Camera Permission: When you use the "Scan to PDF" feature, we need access to your camera to capture document images. The captured images are used locally on the device to generate the PDF. We do not upload these images unless you actively choose to send them via other features (e.g., sharing).
Information Collected for Service Stability:
To improve product quality, analyze crash reasons, and optimize user experience, we automatically collect the following anonymous or de-identified information:
Device Information: Including device model, operating system version, system language, screen resolution, etc.
App Usage Data: Including app version, feature usage frequency (e.g., number of clicks on the "Scan" button), page view duration, settings preferences (e.g., default language), and other in-app interaction behaviors.
Crash Logs: When the App encounters an unexpected error or crash, we collect related log information to diagnose and fix the issue. These logs may contain device state, error codes, and timestamps, but do not contain your personal identity information or file content.
Network and Location Information:
IP Address: Used to roughly determine your approximate geographical location to help us with regional service optimization and statistics.
Android Advertising ID (AAID): This identifier is generated by your Android device and is used for advertising delivery and attribution. You can reset this ID in your device's ad settings.
2. How We Use Collected Information
We strictly adhere to the principles of legality, legitimacy, and necessity, using the collected information for the following purposes:
To provide, maintain, and improve core features such as "PDF List & Preview", "Scan to PDF", "Split & Merge PDF", etc.
To enable local features like "Recently Viewed & Favorites".
To provide "Multi-language Support" and display the interface in your system language or app settings.
To analyze app performance and user behavior for troubleshooting, fixing issues, optimizing product design, and improving service efficiency.
To conduct anonymous statistics and analysis to understand overall usage trends.
To display third-party advertisements.
3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
Advertising Services: The App contains advertisements provided by third-party advertising service providers (e.g., Google AdMob). These providers may collect and use your Android Advertising ID (AAID), approximate location (based on IP), and device information to serve personalized ads to you. Their data collection and use are governed by their own privacy policies. We recommend you review the privacy policies of the relevant ad networks (e.g., Google Ads Personalization settings). We do not share your personal identity information (such as name, email) with advertisers.
Analytics Services: We may use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Firebase Analytics) to help us analyze app usage. These providers collect de-identified usage data, crash logs, and device information to help us improve the product.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information when required by law, regulation, legal process, litigation, or mandatory requests from government authorities.
Except for the circumstances described above, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any other third parties.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local Processing: All PDF files you create or edit through the App's scanning and editing features are processed and stored locally on your device. We do not upload these files to our servers.
Storage of Collected Data: Device information, usage data, crash logs, and other information we collect may be transmitted to and stored on servers located globally, operated by us or our third-party service providers. We take reasonable physical, electronic, and administrative measures to protect this information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
5. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your information:
Manage Device Permissions: You can turn off permissions for the App (like camera, storage) at any time in your device's "Settings". Note that disabling certain permissions may cause related features to become unavailable.
Manage Personalized Ads: You can manage your ad personalization preferences or reset your Android Advertising ID (AAID) in the "Google Settings" on your Android device.
Contact Us: If you have any questions, comments, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data (e.g., wish to know what specific information we hold about you), please contact us via email.
6. Updates to the Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you within the App or through other prominent means (such as the app store update description) and indicate the latest effective date. Please review this policy periodically.
7. Protection of Minors
The App is not specifically designed for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the methods below, and we will promptly delete such information.
