As the development of digitalization has promoted industrial upgrading, the application of advanced management tools such as FMS has brought fleet managers into a new era of smart management. How to read complex data, quickly identify and make full use of the effective information, how to help fleet managers improve efficiency and make quick decisions so as to achieve cost-effectiveness... These are at the core of Scania's initial considerations when developing the localized FMS.

Like most of the work we do at Scania, less is more. Scania FMS S+ is also built in this way. Instead of simply listing and stacking data, it presents data and analysis results including vehicle location, fuel consumption, load, mileage and driver's performance in the form of visual multi-dimensional graphic clearly. In particular, it is able to warn high-risk vehicles that do not meet the requirements for safe driving, allowing fleet managers to easily control the operating status of each of the vehicles in their fleet. The one-click report export function provided by the system can generate customized and personalized reports according to the different needs of customers, helping busy managers save time and greatly reduce costs, and improve operational safety.Scania also launched a special S+ Campaign, in which users who are interested in using Scania FMS S+ can equip hardware devices for free and bundle 1 year subscription when purchasing new vehicles. and user also can purchase S+ hardware for their rolling vehicles and are also entitled to a free annual fee. By activating the service, customers can view the vehicle details at any time via the Scania FMS S+ webpage scnfms.scania.com.cn or Application Scania S+, which is available for Apple and Android system.

Scania at Mobile World Congress launched Scania One which provides a single digital environment to a host of connected services for fleet owners and drivers. With one-quarter million connected Scania vehicles, Scania One provides coherent and simple access to efficiency-enhancing services.

Through Scania One, fleet owners and drivers will have access to the most relevant connected services that can simplify and improve their transport assignments. It constitutes an open customer platform for existing and coming Scania services as well as external content in the versatile Android tablet device.

Scania One features the Scania Fleet Management, the comprehensive monitoring and analytical system that provides fleet owners with an overview of equipment and drivers. It offers in-depth data on performance trends with regard to crucial factors that directly affect costs, such as fuel consumption and wear. It is also an invaluable tool in fleet planning, providing information on position and needed servicing.

At Scania, we see a growing need to connect and manage indoor robots of different brands and types from a single system to optimize indoor material movement and the flow of warehouse logistics. Therefore, we are looking for intelligent fleet management solutions that can control indoor robots, such as AGVs, AMRs, and forklifts from different brands, and optimize the overall efficiency of material movement inside our production facilities.

We envision an open fleet management system capable of controlling robot and vehicle fleets of multiple brands and vehicle types in mostly indoor environments like factories and warehouses where several vehicles are needed for logistics. We are looking for software with a high level of usability, enabling seamless interoperability with different users in our production facilities. In the long term, the software solution would also optimize the routing of fleets.

We envision a solution that is not only able to control the robotic fleets but can also optimize the routings for accurate and efficient delivery of materials. These capabilities would preferably come in a combination as Scania seeks to minimize the different software in use.

As part of charging management, we are interested in solutions that can help balancing the energy usage between charging and other energy consumers. For example, many of our customers have their chargers integrated to a manufacturing plant or other industrial facility.

BEV-operated fleets and transport assignments have different dynamics than traditional ICE-based fleets. If you work on new BEV-focused transport management solutions that help our customers plan and execute their BEV-based transport missions optimally, be in touch with us!

Moreover, some notable players just outside of the top ten list are MICHELIN Connected Fleet, Geotab, Transics, Quartix, Eurowag Telematics, Viasat, Linqo, Microlise, Daimler Truck, Ocan (Orange), Volvo, Macnil, GSGroup, RAM Tracking, MAN, Cartrack, Fleet Complete, Trimble, Optimum Automotive, Shiftmove, AROBS Transilvania Software, Inseego, Infobric Fleet and Mapon. The HCV manufacturers are now growing their subscriber bases considerably thanks to standard line fitment of fleet management solutions. Dynafleet by Volvo and FleetBoard by Daimler Truck, along with Scania Fleet Management, are the most successful. They have active subscriber bases of 162,000 units, 170,000 units, and 379,000 units in Europe respectively at the end of 2022.

In February, private equity firm Idico acquired a majority stake in Simpliciti. In May, Targa Telematics acquired Viasat Group. The new larger group will have offices in eight key European countries: Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, the UK, Belgium, Poland and Romania. Mapon acquired CarCops based in Estonia in the same month which will expand the business in the country considerably. Addsecure Smart Transport acquired the Clifford Group in October. The Clifford Group includes Traxgo, a Belgium-based company offering systems for tracking vehicles, machines, and equipment. Finally, Powerfleet and MiX Telematics announced in October. They have also agreed to form a combined business, branding it as Powerfleet. The parties expect to close the transaction in Q1-2024. Mr. Fagerberg anticipates that the market consolidation of the still overcrowded industry will continue in 2024.

For logistics operators and fleet owners, lower operating costs and higher vehicle uptime could mean the difference between business survival and failure, especially when margins are razor-thin in times of rising fuel prices, maintenance costs and slower economic growth.

With FMS, Scania said its customers enjoyed benefits such as quick access to fleet overviews, graphic reports at a glance, views of fuel consumption, and these data helped them to make decisions that cut fuel consumption, identify vehicles that were being driven unsuitably and have better service planning that reduced unplanned downtime.

Marie pointed out that fleet operators were able to improve profits as FMS gave them clear and useful information about how their fleet was performing and what was costing them money.

However, the Control Package offered extra benefits such as events report; performance trend per driver or vehicle (fuel consumption, driving style and usage during any period); advanced vehicle and driver evaluation; fleet position and vehicle status; driving time report with accumulated driving time for drivers; vehicle tracking over a chosen period; Geofence alarms if a vehicle entered or left a pre-determined area; quick and easy communication across the workforce; two-way communication with the vehicle, messaging, address book and routing; traceability and secure storage of historical conversation; provided full access to fleet data in a standardised format with existing telematics systems. The Control Package was seen as suitable for fleet owners who wanted to utilise the benefits of vehicle and driver follow-up as well as support their transport process with operational information.

Transportation company Scania had top-of-the-line on-premises servers, but it could not scale enough to keep up with the growing amount of messaging data from its vehicles. Its fleet grew and continues to grow quickly; by the last quarter of 2022, the fleet of trucks that could exchange data with Scania numbered more than 500,000. For 3 years, Scania underwent a complete redesign of its data network, migrating its servers from on premises to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Scania is a transportation company that has been making trucks, buses, and engines for over 100 years. In 2011, Scania introduced trucks with software and other services that help customers collect data and communicate with their fleets.

According to a new research report from the IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, a number of active fleet management systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets in South Africa reached an estimated 2.1 million in Q4-2022. Growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.2%, this number is expected to reach 3.8 million by 2027.

South Africa is a mature telematics market and the penetration rate is comparably high from an international perspective. Far from all deployments are however full-scale advanced fleet management solutions. A notable share of the installed fleet telematics systems on the South African market is represented by comparably low-end tracking systems, e.g. light FM solutions, including SVR (system verification review) systems extended with basic FM features. e24fc04721
