Scan Halal: AI Food Checker ("Scan Halal", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
By using Scan Halal, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Images and Photos
When you use our scanning feature, you may capture or upload photos of food products. These images are sent to our AI service (Google Gemini) for analysis. We do not store your images on our servers. Images are processed in real time and discarded after analysis is complete.
1.2 Scan Results
Your scan results (product name, halal status, ingredient analysis, and related data) are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.
1.3 Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Scan Halal Pro, your purchase is processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. We only receive an anonymous confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat, our subscription management service.
1.4 Device Information
We may collect anonymized, non-personally identifiable technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for the purpose of improving our service and fixing bugs.
1.5 Usage Data
We do not use third-party analytics services. We do not track your browsing habits, location, or personal activities.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Analyze food products for halal compliance using AI
- Store your scan history locally on your device for your convenience
- Manage your subscription status
- Improve the app's performance and features
3. DATA SHARING AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
3.1 AI Analysis Service
Food product images are sent to Google's Gemini AI API via AIProxy for halal analysis. Images are processed in real time and are not stored by us. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle data processed through their APIs.
3.2 Subscription Management
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to track subscription status. No personal information is shared. Please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for more details.
3.3 Apple App Store
All purchases are processed by Apple. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle transaction data.
3.4 No Sale of Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
- All scan results are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to any external server.
- Images sent for AI analysis are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- We do not maintain any user accounts or databases containing personal information.
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect data during transmission.
5. DATA RETENTION
- Scan history is stored on your device for as long as you keep the app installed.
- You can delete individual scan results at any time from within the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
- Images sent for analysis are not retained after processing.
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Scan Halal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Access your scan data (stored locally on your device)
- Delete your scan data at any time through the app
- Opt out of any future data collection by uninstalling the app
- Request information about what data, if any, we hold
8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
