Assistant Professor at Sejong Cyber University
I am Sangjun Bae, Head of School of Engineering at Sejong Cyber University with strong research and development capabilities in multi-agent systems for transportation. My work focuses primarily on Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Unmanned aerial vehicle Traffic Management (UTM), with expertise in decision-making (including task allocation and path planning), control, and navigation. I also have extensive experience applying AI and big data techniques to interdisciplinary engineering projects in both academic and industrial settings.
Before joining Sejong Cyber University, I served as a Lead AI Research Engineer and Team Lead of the AI/Big Data Optimization Team at LG Display, where I tackled optimization challenges in fields such as Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). Prior to that, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Automatic Control Group at Chalmers University of Technology, contributing to the SCOPE (ServiCe OPtimization of charging station for Electrified vehicles) project. My research in multi-agent path planning for network-based transportation systems began in 2014 and culminated in a Ph.D. from the Cyber-Physical Systems Centre at Cranfield University, UK, under the supervision of Prof. Hyo-Sang Shin and Prof. Antonios Tsourdos (2014–2018). I hold an MSc and a BSc in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Sejong University, South Korea (awarded in 2014 and 2012, respectively).
I am adept at publishing research papers and prototyping, and I am a fast learner and passionate challenger of emerging technologies. I take delight in imparting knowledge to collaborators and fostering a collaborative research environment.
